The great running backs all had a unique style, and he was probably my favorite. Jim Brown was more powerful but a little before my time.

Whitey Herzog, baseball manager. Led the Cardinals to the 1982 World Series title over my Brewers in the Brewers' only WS appearance.

Made me sad at the time. On the plus side, met some really good friends at college who were Cardinals fans, and with whom I've stayed in touch to this day.

RIP Whitey Herzog Master of the small ball approach of speed, defense and line drives. I prefer that to the launch angle strike out kings of today.

Also RIP Kenny Holtzman - Solid lefty pitcher with the Cubs and A's. Had a couple of no-hitters back in the day.
