That's bizarre. Here is the video I thought I was posting yesterday.

This was supposed to be there too. From the Tokyo Album. In my defense, I was posting with a smart phone from an airport shuttle while a bunch of crazies were starting a fist fight.

Rashied Ali drummed with Coltrane in the later years
here his is playing with Arthur Rhames
recorded in Switzerland 1981 when Rhames was in his early 20s
don't let the sound fool you, there are only two humans making music here

When I first looked at the album photo, I thought it was Eric Dolphy.

wonder if Extra, Extra Read All About inspired Vernon to write Information Overload?

i'm skeptical Coltrane would have been able to successfully explore the space he did without the help of Elvin Jones and Reggie Workman
same phrase applies to Dolphy
and Tyner is worthy of a separate post

thank you for sharing that Schlitzy
i am also in my happy place

the bass and drums were always there and reliable
trane and dolphy knew where to find them if they went astray

Had this album many years ago. Shorter versions exist, but I like this one.

an amazing assemblage of jazz influence recorded in stockholm 1960
miles
trane
bill evans
paul chambers
jimmy cobb

miles stokes col by fanning embers in the space between notable leaves he otherwise would have left alone.
meanwhile trane blows down the track like a steam engine sprinting towards a speed bop marathon record only to be awarded a sleeve medal colored autumn or green
and then there is the other three fifths of the band
worthy of a separate post

because it's the jazz personification of orange leaves falling off trees in months that autumnatically include burr?

I don't know. His stuff can be so tonal, and at the same time so melodic, I never know how to take it. How much hard bop do you catch yourself humming as you are walking down the street? I mean, I've caught myself walking around trying to sing Sketches of Spain.
