I believe both of these may be from the W.C. Handy album, my favorite by Armstrong.

This has the Barney Bigard clarinet solo (that Murakami talks about) at ~2:35:

I love this. If there's a band or a venue that Tina Guo hasn't appeared with or in, I don't know of it.

the way Ray Brown and Ed Thigpen are keeping the rhythm at the beginning by gently tapping their bass and drums is fun to watch. i actually think they may have been subtly correcting overzealous snapping fans who were a bit ahead of the beat.

this trio is incredibly tight. listen to it at least twice.
the unspoken language between Brown & Thigpen is fun to watch....just head nods and looks.

the same trio as above with the addition of Sonny Stitt (1958)

Zappa is on the record saying Wes is one of his favorite artists and 'Lover Man' his favorite song by Wes.

I used to host a Thursday night home game populated with musicians, and Wes was fun to throw on the turntable because he was so polarizing, especially to the guitarists. His later stuff that moved from bebop to easy listening could really get them arguing. Not everybody can tilt a whole table with just a few chords and octaves.
