Just arrived in Hilton Head for a week of golf. Was able to score a time at Long Cove, one of the top private courses on the island. Playing Robert Trent Jones course at Palmetto Dunes tomorrow.

82 degrees here. 50 degrees when I left at RI this afternoon.

Sounds good! Those big time courses are too tough to enjoy for me. Played Blackwolf Run and Whistling Straights up in Wisconsin a few times and they were torture. My big golf trip this year will be in Milwaukee and hopefully some flat, straight, short courses. Also gonna take in a few Brewers games on that trip but it won't be until late July. Then again I am jetting off to Las Vegas on Sunday for a few days to play some poker. Probably taking my yearly road trip in late June or early July. Haven't worked out all the details yet but we are going east this year to probably Cuyahoga Falls and Niagra Falls.

Those courses are too tough for me. I used to have an 8 or 9 handicap, but now I celebrate if I break 100. But I don't care any longer and probably enjoy playing even more.

I'm going to get out to Chicago some time in July, I think. One of my close friends lives in Oak Park, and my niece is the director of teen services at the Chicago Public Library.

Trying to fill out as much of the summer as possible.

I love those old RTJ courses with their 100 sq ft greens, but I think a lot of them have been modified to speed up play.

If you want to speed up play suck down a bottle gin, a few grams of cocaine, and bring your shotgun to motivate the morons that are slowing down play.

It’s about 9 AM, Saturday. Are you sober? And if so, why?

Think of it this way: the more strokes you need to get through the course, the more of a bargain you're getting on the greens fee. Getting your money's worth!

Yeah but that's what everyone does and there are still plenty of slow players.

Why do some restaurants have pepper dispensers that look like bazookas and babes with big tits that offer to add some extra pepper to your order of fresh shrimp? I think it’s some kind of sexual innuendo that I’m obviously missing out on.

All bar maids should be required to have big tits and perky nipples.

On innuendo about it. We're talking sex here. Mating.

I'm pretty sure they already do.

Three days playing golf so far. All beautiful courses in Hilton Head. I'm terrible these days. I used to hit drives about 220 and a seven iron from 150. Now a good drive goes maybe 180 and I'm hitting a five wood from 160. I did birdie one hole today, but I'm basically playing for bogey on every hole.

I have accepted my limitations with equanimity.

virtually impossible to bogey the brahmavihārā
even after joyfully compiling a four putt from the sand

Saw this video of someone mispronouncing names at a college graduation. Having read around 500 names at college graduations three times, I can tell you it's easier to just read the names rather than try to read them written out phonetically.

I did read the name of a student speaker, Jacqueline Henao, as "Jacqueline Henao, Henoa, Don't Dream It's Over" during practice. She thanked me for saying it because it helped relax her.

what if every graduating student walked out to their own prerecorded name
quite the appropriate public display of resume

I didn't attend graduations. All that dressing up in gowns. What's the point?

I remember some years ago, the MLB all-star game had each player's home announcer pre-recorded for their intro. The Twins' announcer was very recognizable.

Now batting...for the Twins...Kirbyyyyyyyy Puckett!

Whatever the point was, it's just a tradition these days. I've only attended high school graduation (we wore suits) and graduations for our students. Never went to my own college graduations.

I could do 32 names per minute. Didn't want to waste time handing out diplomas. I only got a few wrong.

that's just your platented knob reaction
don't care if your age type returns every year
might as well just release the results on paper view
