Pretty much the same here, I just love learning things, although in my case they tend to just bounce off my bonce. The sum of all positive integers is -1/12 I do remember that.

Which grade is more insulting?

And I give Shakespeare an A+ in the insults category!

Blunt monster with uncounted heads

Superfluous lackey

Viperous worm

Excellent fodder for your Friday consumption. Use at your own risk.

Not exactly an insult, but I do remember thinking “I was not angry since I came to France until this moment “ after a miscommunication caused me to be served with a ham sandwich instead of the glass of red wine that I wished for. Nice sandwich tho’

A guy once tried to start a fight with me in a bar by saying, "You look like ****ing George Peppard." I wasn't all that insulted.

Bit rude this so probably some more demerit points
A girl sat next to a bloke in the bar said to him when she was a little short of space
“Budge up you fat bastard, your balls ain’t that big “

Being a Congleton girl of course she later murdered her boyfriend

I resemble an ugly version of Bryan Ferry. Not quite good enough to get the ladies.

Probably not smart? If you were George Peppard you would have plenty of backup with BA, Face and Murdock lurking nearby.

Another bar fight scene. I was out with Jean and her friend and her boyfriend. For some reason some idiot decided that he wanted to pick a fight with me. I pointed out that I was with a 6’ foot 6” US Marine, he quickly calmed down.

I never went to college, but I do enjoy watching those college lectures they have on YouTube. I may even learn something now and then.

Life is basically a series of pass / fail exams. All we can do is equip ourselves to be around average and hope for excellence. For what it's worth, average the default in life, and there is no shame in being average in your field of work. There isn't enough room in the world for excellence, and when there is a slight imbalance, the bar for average raises... yesterdays elite is the new average and yesterdays average is pared from their field of work.

^^ very true, all the Job adverts that say “We are looking for someone who can excel in their field of xxxx “are annoying, what they should say is “We are looking for someone who can do a half passable job”

More realistic: "we are looking for someone who can you turn on their computer and use Google without downloading a bunch of viruses."
05-15-2021 , 11:46 AM
thats me. i have never added any virus software to my computer. and have used the internet since near its first starting point. my first internet use was in 1988 with a 1200 baud modem.
and i have never had any virus that i know of or anything that disrupted the use of my computers.

You young folk and your “modems” . I was on the Joint Academic Network in 1981 using an acoustic coupler.

For those who are interested the electronic noises that you used to hear when connecting to the internet were originally generated as actual sounds from a loudspeaker that you would connect to the phone handset.
05-15-2021 , 09:09 PM
Was that sound an official form of phone phreaking?

I saw the Grand Canyon for the first time, and visited Nashville. I hit some poker tables in Vegas and made a decent bit of money, hooray. There was more to the trip, but mostly in-between stops.

I took Allegiant, United, and American Airlines. Honestly, I didn't like any of these airlines, though AA did have a power outlet and free movies. I tried to watch Parasite, but could only get about 1 hour into it. I can only suspend my disbelief so much before I get annoyed.

I decided to sign up for Delta frequent flyer because that's my favorite airline I've been on so far. I like how it's so calm on the flights I been on, the prices are low, and electrical outlets.

When I signed up, the website asked if I'd like to apply for American Express, and much to my surprise, I was approved, so now I'll be rocking AmEx. This is the first somewhat significant rewards / cash back card I've had. The one I have has given me $13 in the 6 months I've had it.

I will say, the new Raiders stadium looks awesome. I won't be seeing game any time soon at those prices.

Alaska is my first choice for US/Mexico flights, and we've had an Alaska mileage card for years. Each year you can get a companion fare for $120 anywhere they fly, and they have several international partners where you can use Alaska miles. We put pretty much every purchase on that card and pay the bill every month (as you should with a credit card). I think we're sitting on a little over 300k miles right now, which is the equivalent of two international round trips for each of us.

Delta is my choice for international flights when not using miles (primarily because they fly direct from PDX to Amsterdam). Lufthansa used to fly direct from PDX to Frankfurt, but they ended that many years ago. gotta say Lufthansa had the hottest flight attendants.
once you get to Europe it's very easy and very inexpensive to travel from there, either by plane or train.

The AA flight was labeled something like "Alaskan Airlines working as American Airlines." Not sure the exact language, but I was in an AA plane. I'm guessing the pilots and crew are from Alaskan?

was it an alaska plane or american plane? AA could be either in that context.
