I've had good micro brews but they can be hard to find. The requirements for opening a micro brewery are less stringent that the requirements to become a poker dealer in Vegas. Just to let you know what you're drinking.

If you drink beer and don’t enjoy micros, and at the same time complain that micros aren’t good which is why they get bought by macros, you probably should recognize the beer you’re drinking is a macro and you’re bitching about your own damn self.

I have found that the best beers are made by small (not micro) breweries. They have the equipment and expertise that the micros don’t, but they are not committed to making millions of HL of beer that is all exactly the same like the macros.
Youngs in Wandsworth was the best example of this , their Special London Ale was the finest beer I have ever drank.
I do know what I am talking about here since I have spent 35 years working in breweries.

Mainly I find micro beers are inadequately filtered, which makes sense because a decent beer filter is very expensive.

I too am fond of Young's Special. Young's Ordinary tastes like dishwater, though.

We had to work late at Adnams, the head brewer came around with beers for everyone

Everyone should just drink the beer they like. That’s what I do. I’ve even had fruity beer (cherry) made be the silly Belgium’s that I liked. Surprisingly good. Had it in Budapest with my Hungarian Goulash in a sidewalk cafe. My life’s been good!

Even the supercilious French make a few good beers. Wonders never end! And London Town is a true Mecca for excellent brews of all descriptions.

Think I have posted this before, after playing cricket in hot weather and getting dehydrated we went to the bar I asked for beer “What sort sir?” “Beer” “Yes sir, but we have many varieties “ “Beer” “Ale, Lager, IPA?” “Beer”. I got my beer

When we being shown around the Stella Artois production facility by a humourless individual the lovely Andera pipes up “So where do you pipe in the ingredient that gives you a headache?”

I’ve had three glorious cocktails and I’m walking on a cloud and all is right with the world. And the sun is beaming down on my saint-like face.

I find it depends on what city / area you are in. In LA and Austin, you are going to get some very good ones. I was in the Grand Canyon (only took one photo), and drank stuff from the AZ world. It was okay, but definitely much lower quality than what you'd find elsewhere.

You're probably trying some strange stuff. An IPA is sort of the Merlots of beer, or maybe the Budweiser of the craft world. BigCo beers are all lagers, with some notable exceptions like Sam Adams's various ales. Personally, I can't stand IPAs and don't get the appeal of them.

People love popping vitamin and fish oil pills, which is completely unregulated. The difference is, if people get sick from **** beer, they won't buy it ever again.

micros started out as people wanting to create a great craft beer. then when it took off thousands got into it to make money that dont put care into it, just trying to make a hit. but that is why almost all suck.

Right, and that's why there are many IPAs. It's very easy to make and generally the first thing micros make. If the brewer is only doing IPAs and ales, odds are, they aren't that good or experienced. As odd as it may sound American Lagers are widely considered the most difficult to make, though I'd guess saisons, porters, and stouts aren't all that easy either. In short, if you are looking for a higher percentage of hits -vs- misses, you want to try those out instead, or at the least, try beers from brewers who have a variety of beers. The big issue with ales is, they tend to be very hoppy, and in my case anyways, a great way to get a headache if the alcohol is too high.

It's also important to know what percentages you are drinking. More alcohol tends to have more flavoring to cover the taste, though nothing seems to help when it's over 10%, outside of a saison. Stay between 5% and 7% and you'll generally be fine.

As far as the narrative of micros being more caring, there were two micros in Cleveland before the craze. I tried them both and they were somewhere between a King Cobra and a Coors in quality.

We spent a long time writing software that was the most flexible ever in terms of what recipe it could be programmed to make even though everyone knew that it would just be programmed to make Coors Lite until the brewery fell down.

I'd like y'all's to know that allegiant airlines wasn't that bad, though I had a truly annoying neighbor, which made the flight miserable. The airplane was also way more noisy than it should have been.

United is, without a doubt, my second least airline I've been on so far. The plane itself was okay, not great, and the FAs seem to be trained to annoy you all flight.

This morning I hate everything and everyone. But Especially Californians!

Probably should reserve your hatred for Canadians, at least the Californians were people who had the brains to realise that settling in a land that descends into a frozen wasteland for half the year was not the best of ideas

I assumed it was some kind of street theater, so I walked up to her and asked if she was a Futurist. She asked the counter girl to call the police, so the counter girl went into the back and got a couple of the bakers to throw her out.

A couple of weeks later I heard Moon Unit Zappa's Valley Girl record and pieced together what happened.

The top comment on that video sums up my sentiment.

Zeno, I'm not offended by your hatred of Californians. I've barely been here long enough to be considered a local at this point.
