I love Laguna Beach.

when i first went to dana point in the 1970,s it wasnt developed yet. i remember saying boy this place will be expensive one day. as it was really nice there then.

i did get me a sail boat around 1980 as i thought sailing around the world single handed would be fun. then after reading up on it i changed my my mind and just used the boat for hanging out. i kept it in marina del rey.

Sailing takes me away to where I've always heard it could be.

My life is pretty fabulous at times. This weekend, for example, is shaping up pretty well. However, it would be much more fabulous if I were to retire, hang out at Dana Point, Laguna, or Newport Beach, look at fishies, drink beer, and see art at Long Beach. Basically, I'm working all the time and incredibly jealous of Zeno right now.

Somehow trying to get my life together at Laguna Beach.

I love those John and His Ladies photos. Everyone is always having such a good time as John gives the rakish smile. That's a coffee table book I'd buy in a second.

Ray, you may be right. I doubt it. But I'm always willing to concede I may be wrong.

At Laguna Beach, includes the Pageant of the Masters. See link.

Been twice. Very enjoyable. The majority of the art is worthwhile and talent abounds. Youngsters also get involved (first -twelfth grades) and also have an exhibit. The uninhibited first-graders take the show in my opinion.

Fabulous is a pretty fabulous word. Someday we'll do New York City together and be the talk of the town.

Zeno,

We might be the talk of a few towns.

This may inspire me to start a new Lounge thread: Why my life is more fabulous than yours. Serious posters need not contribute but are welcome. At the end, when all the lies have piled up accordingly, a vote on the most fabulous life will be tabulated and the winner crowned King Fabulous. We all know Ray Zee will be the winner so we could just forego the drudgery and give him his crown now.
My life is pretty ****ing spectacular, IMO.

Sitting in the middle of the woods in a cabin on the edge of the Delta, picking ticks off a cat. You can't buy that.

I ended up getting a job at a restaurant. Oddly, 2 people there have lived in Austin at one time. It's also odd because the first person I played pool against at a bar moved from Austin. He dropped a few names and I'm like "oh, yeah, I know of that person."

Looks like I won't be able to get back to LA for a few months.

Started the day off yesterday driving 2 hours to play 4-wheeler cowboy and move cows to new pasture since the wells where they were at went dry. The pasture they were in was terrible rough country so it was a bit of an adventure at times. After a detour to pick up a part in Billings and taking a long way home I get almost home to see a fire burning less than a mile from the house just the other side of the road. At one point we had dogs, guns and pictures loaded up in case we had to run. Thankfully a lot of Riga showed up and they contained the fire before it got any worse or to houses that were even closer to it than mine.

It has gotten very dry here so there are fires popping up all over. Earlier in the day they had put a fire out just a little further away on our side of the road too and there were a number of other fire starts in this part of the country as well. Think I need to get a sprayer unit for the Ranger so I at least have a fighting chance should things get worse.

I think we had a tornado last evening. The rain was horizontal and I would swear I heard hail.
I can hear a wood chipper grinding this morning. Neighbors are without power, but we stand strong.

I've been officially horrified. Nature sucks, and cats are cute until you let them go outside and play. At that point, they become the hunter, and they hunt bugs.

Last night, I hear this shrill screaming, like some strange alien scream you'd hear out of a movie. The cat has a dying bug sitting in front of it. I kicked the bug, and the screams continued, "eee eee eee!" I put it out of it's misery.

Bugs can scream.

Not a lot of difference between a lion and a house cat. They are hunters. Also, Mother Nature can be beautiful but is equally a cruel *****.

you killed the bug. and the cat was to blame for it.

trees scream too but you dont hear them.

My daughter's cat kills rabbits, and both the dog and cat devoured the thing.

I have a four-month old kitten at the house. The mother cat brought in a small mole still alive to the kitten. The kitten played with it for about fifteen minutes until it died and then she ate the face off the mole. Leaving the rest for the ants and flies. The mother cat watched the proceedings with that aloofness that cats display so well. So did I.

It is ill advised to apply human morals or emotions to the animal world. They live on a different moral (really, amoral) plane.

A "cat playing" is how they hunt, I think.

National Geographic wouldn't exist if they didn't follow their non-interference protocols. Of course, if the cat gets in a bad situation, I'd interfere.
