spend one year traveling and playing with a band, which instrument, which band and why?

I'd choose Flogging Molly.
Playing acoustic guitar, mandolin, or banjo.

By far my favorite all around band. The combination of instruments, "dark" lyrics, and uplifting melodies is some of the most inspiring music I listen to. In addition to the diverse band members like a punk rock bass player in his twenties, to a former skateboarder turned accordion player, to a singer/songwriter nearing 50, I feel like I could learn a ton spending time with a group of people like that.

Not only would the music be a lot of fun to play, there would obviously be a wonderfully overwhelming amount of drinking going on.




note: there maybe a difference in your favorite band and the band you would like to play with for a year. my favorite band is definitely NOT going to be at the top of my list, but they would be close.

Drums with either Thrice or Minus The Bear, just because I have listened to their songs so much and know the beats.

Jim Croce or Paul Simon, on guitar, just because these guys are such great songwriters and it would be cool to be a part of pulling together such great work.

Otherwise, drums with The Talking Heads back in their Stop Making Sense tour. They had so much percussion going on in such a layered sound that I think as a drummer you could be ridiculous creative and have loads of fun, and be really proud of what came out.

I'd be happy just to bang a tambourine alongside Bruce and the rest of E Street Band.

It would definitely be bass, but i have no idea who i would want to tour with...to me most bassists seem to have the most unique and varied playing style...maybe tour with Kamelot or Epica, maybe Lamb of God...

I kind of want to replace John Lennon in The Beatles at the time of their American Invasion, so I could know what it's like to have hordes of women swoon just by seeing me.

Either that, or play some mad tambourine (unlike Dom I assume, I actually have some background at providing a band with this key piece of the musical puzzle) with the Polyphonic Spree so that I could figure out what in the hell those people were all about.

I'd like to play with Guns n Roses during their heyday, but only if I got mad guitar skillz and Slash lets me solo.

I think DJ'ing for Kanye West would be pretty awesome. Also, I'd obv like to be in any band that attracts lots of hot teen girls.
