Macy's was "Marshall Fields" back in the day before they went under and Macy's bought them. When I was a kid going downtown at Christmas time to see Marshall Fields windows displays was a real treat.

Anything interesting happen that will surprise me when I get there?
Hi golddog, thanks for responding. Im kind of sick of politics and gavent talked about the issue I would guess you’re talking about at all.

Obviously the shooting at the trump rally was evil. Im not for Trump but this solidifies his case that people are out to get him and have “trump derangement” syndrome.

Pretty sick of current events tbh going to escape to my own private kansas.

Sometimes I order drinks because of the name. In New Orleans, I had an Oxford Comma, and in Chicago, overlooking the city, I ordered a Trouble Will Find Me, some drink made with tequila and a bunch of other stuff. But most of the time I drank gin and tonic.

Fortunately, I made it home without any flight interruptions although boarding had closed on one return flight because the first landed five minutes before the next was to take off. A nice lady in charge got me on.

Glad you had a nice trip, John. Sounds like the glitch turned a lot of people's travel into nightmares.

Nice drink name, that pregnant pause.

And, as you say, you never want a martini, a Trouble Will Find Me and an Oxford Comma.

Man, I bet re-caulking that is a tough job.

Art does make life enjoyable. Had a conversation about how long you can spend in an art museum without getting sensory overload. I said three hours. They said less. Anyway, this great Hockney at the Art Institute of Chicago. Almost no one was looking at it.

Now into my fourth month of not driving and slowly losing my mind. Travel has staved off some of my insanity, but I would really like to go out for a ride and grab a cup of coffee. I could walk to the local convenience store for coffee, but it's lacking in ambiance.

I love where I live, but I'd manage better in a walkable city with good public transportation.

Two more months to go.

Probably not a reliable form of transportation.

It was fine in college, but times have changed.

But I guess this is preparation for the day senility creeps up on me and the kids take away the car.

The early 70’s in a nutshell. Much has changed since then.

It's pretty depressing summer for White Sox fans. I haven't been able to watch them since early May. At this point they make the 1962 Mets look legit. But next week I get to go watch some real baseball! Heading up to Milwaukee and gonna take in the Brewers/Braves series. Plan on going to the Mon, Tues and Wed games of 2 actual probable playoff teams. Gonna do some golf as well.

Really looking forward to it. Haven't gotten together with this group of college buddies in a while. We always did a summer golf trip together but when covid hit that ended and now we put together this baseball trip. Looking forward to seeing Miller Park in person. I had been to a couple of Brewers games at the old County Stadium and even a Packers game there when they used to play half their games in Milwaukee. I'm wondering if there are gonna be any crusty old Milwaukee Braves fans that never gave up their allegiance?

Anyhoo it's Friday! Drink 'em if you got 'em

The latter half of the baseball season is always the best. Blood on the bases and screaming drunken fans in anguish over every game. That’s why baseball is such a great game.
