Peter is one of the most universal names and a cool female variant is Petra.

Ethan is a good allrounder for a boy.

Nicole is a pretty multiethnic (now) name.

Enjoy the bebe!

I've found that men who have one syllable names tend to have an easier time of it in the life game.

For example, Jack, Jake, Tom, Dave.

Since you like the more weirder names though. My brother's name is Saxon, which is interesting, and he only suffered a little bit for it, and it made for a great DJ name.

I suggest "John."

Do the people suggesting kooky names themselves have normal names?

Just about every Dave I met was pretty -ev in life. Not as bad as Steve, so I can't complain.

This made me recall a girl name that we nixed a day after agreeing that it was a nice name: Arya. Think: Game of Thrones, stick them with the pointy end, etc.

Then we realized that first name and last initial would be aryan, which is not ideal. The next thing I thought was "oh, they're half asian, so it's like aryan asian, or aryan nation! Woohoo!"

In the end, I don't think that names have much of an effect on your performance in life, but I want it to be something unique that they won't completely hate when they grow up. I had to change my name at 12 from a combination of disliking my original name, and most people calling me Duke anyhow.

I never liked the idea of having a name that everyone calls you but your actual name is something completely different.

Thank you all for your contributions.

Side note: doctors are super paranoid about any possible flaw you might have with a baby. We have one indicator for Trisomy 18, and like 25 other contra-indicators (including perfect bloodwork and so on) for the same thing, but we gotta go back for a third ultrasound tomorrow morning and possibly an amnio if they find anything else.

Apparently "wrongful birth" is a lot of money in court (and yes you do terminate the pregnancy if they have trisomy 18 - half die at birth anyhow and it's like a thousand times worse than trisomy 21).

There was a Duke on my lacrosse team in college. For spring break we went to Florida to play a bunch of team down there, so the team bought the tickets for everyone. Turns out Duke's name wasn't actually Duke. The TSA was not very happy when he tried to go through security.

+1 to Wolfgang

It's such a bad-ass name. It can be shortened comfortably to Wolf, Wolfy, both of which are pretty bad-ass too.
