I read the spreadsheet. Kudzudemon is the clear winner (though some disagreements), mrbaseball was good. GBP04 looked okay and then I saw Piano Man.

With respect is "Echoes" kind of a trendy #1 pick overall or is this undisputed? I have to be honest, I heard the song before but didn't know it was so highly praised. I grew up listening to Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here so it wouldn't even be my favorite PF song.

It's not.

The person who got to pick first, picked it as his first pick.
And he picked 3 more Pink Floyd songs. He's obviously a big fan.

If it was voted on it wouldn't make the top 100.

There are a dozen better Pink Floyd songs.

Yeah, it's just a personal favorite of mine, but I disagree I think in the circle of Floyd fans it's pretty much regarded as the best song that they ever did. Looking at it from a mainstream perspective though, it's obviously not going to be in the top 100 of a rolling stone list or whatever since they had many more radio friendly songs.

OK, I was wondering if this was the case. I know that some of my favorite bands most beloved songs, by devout fans, are hardly ever the popular ones.

Nice work on that post. Great wrap up of the draft.

Overall a great list but if I was in the worst song draft a couple of the songs in the list would be selected by me for that draft.

Had a good time reading through this, randomly listening to the picks along the way. Great draft.

I should visit The Lounge more regularly so I don't miss these drafts.

Couple songs I'd like to mention that didn't get picked.

Everybody loves Hallelujah. I've sort of got bored with it already. Man with one of the greatest tones ever. Beautiful, painful voice.

Not enough chills yet. How about now?

How about another cover that ****s all over the original, which is also great?

Thoroughly enjoyable thread with some great songs that I didn't know.

Man, i wish I could have participated tho; I could easily reel off 15 songs that didn't get picked. Heck, I could come up with 15 Australian songs if I gave it some thought.

whenever I fire up the motorcycle to go for a ride Meatloaf's 'Bat out of Hell' always comes on in my head.

When he was in his prime he could belt them out.

I heard once it's still one of the top ten selling albums of all time.

Don't click the link! It's a trap!

Bat Out Of Hell (Songs by Jim Steinman) is one of the greatest albums of all-time!

Leave Marvin Lee Aday alone!!!

HE’S A HUMAN! What you don’t realize is that Marvin is making you all this money and all you do is write a bunch of crap about him.

He hasn’t performed on stage in years. His song is called Bat Out Of Hell for a reason because all you people want is HELL! HELL-HELL, HELL: HELL!

LEAVE HIM ALONE! You are lucky he even performed for you BASTARDS!
LEAVE MARVIN ALONE! Please.

In his biography he left home at 18 after his mom died and his alcoholic/cop father tried to stab him. Got a gig in the musical 'Hair' and the rest is history.

The album got so many rejections he said people would start new record companies just to reject him.

from wiki

Bat Out of Hell has sold more than 43 million copies worldwide.[1] After 35 years, it still sells an estimated 200,000 copies annually and stayed on the charts for over nine years, making it one of the best selling albums of all time.[2][3]

Watching American Masters on PBS - the Troubadours. About the singer/songwriter era and The Troubafour Club in L.A. in the late 60s/early 70s. So amazing.

And I can't believe no one selected a song by Carol King, James Taylor, or Jackson Brown. For shame.

At least I picked some Warren Zevon and Carly Simon songs!
