I am a very interested person and as such spend a considerable amount of my total reading time reading lengthy articles on almost anything. I figured I’d start a thread where (if there are any) likeminded posters could share their favorites, and begin a collection of sorts. I’ll start off with a few recent favorites and if the thread picks up I’ll keep posting more. If a thread like this has already existed and died, I apologize in advance!

Fascinating article on the mind of the Octopus:

Terrifying one on the inevitable Pacific Northwest earthquake:

Speculation on the downfall of the dinosaurs:

Sad but peerless up-close look at the craziness that has become Mr. Depp’s normal:

Oral history of my favorite movie:

Someone in another thread turned me on to this older article about
the recently deceased Ricky Jay.
Long and took me a couple days to read because I had to look up
a word every few sentences, at least my lexicon has been expanded.

wow. I guess it makes perfect sense that he would just kind of lose it. I had a friend who gradually lost his touch with reality after his whole family died. Super sad stuff imo

The Hunt for the Death Valley Germans

Great multipart blogpost about a sad story - Tom Mahood (the author) tells a great story, and lots of other interesting stuff on the blog.
