My girlfriends parents were buying their first house and the settlement got delayed so they went to the movies to relax. They went to Jaws and they said they came out of that movie a nervous wreck filled with the fear and tension Red just mentioned.

Jaws was a game changing movie.

The bolded is a stupid premise. Period. Even a mayor who likes stupid suits would not be so stupid as to think that letting MORE people get eaten by a shark would help the tourist trade.

And I don't think they should have trained a GWS for the role, a dolphin with dentures, LDO.

None of the things that the people did in that movie made sense. Yes, the shark scenes were tense. Yes, it was a ridic accomplishment for the time. Yes, the shark was a marvelous step forward in special effects. None of that changes the fact that the plot was dumb and it's not the olden days anymore so the shark looks super fake and not scary now.

WRONG

Even now in Hawaii it is common practice to mostly never say anyone died from a shark attack. The standard operating procedure is to say the person drowned and only afterwards did sharks use parts of the drowned body for lunch. Tourism lies are real.

I'm all turned around on it now. It was a great movie, very enjoyable and made a lot of sense. Not only that, while it took decades for the lessons of Jaws to sink into my thick skull, it brought me to this discussion where I have learned a lot about the politics of shark attacks and that movies are not real life. Thumbs decidedly and enthusiastically up.
