Grouper is good eating and that one looks plenty fat. Lightly pan fried with lemon, butter, and capers. Nice dinner!

Does it count as hunting if your dog brings it straight to your feet?

His name is Hunter btw. He might get nicknamed scavenger now.
It was pretty fresh, (ie not frozen).

Mostly I'm tickled pink that I'm his favorite.

Yes, but maybe you're not his favorite -- maybe he simply thought you needed the most help feeding yourself...

Even a dog can see that is most certainly not the case

1st thaw after 3 weeks, Hunter came through with another leg. Wasn't aware until it dawned on me he had been chewing pretty consistently for about an hour. Sure enough.

Just yesterday I caught a chunk of ice but it was too small to keep and I had to toss it back.

Ice is pretty unsafe this year in Michigan. Too many warm/rainy spells mixed in to really trust it. Today it was 50 degrees and a monsoon. Been a weird winter.

During a couple of the warmer spells there were guys floating the river for Brown's, but no word on any catching going on.

I was about to confirm turkey only, but I've never seen the dog around fish. He catches damn near everything else. (except cats and skunks)

Hey guys. Weather finally to the point where I could get out for the first day of fishing this year. Stopped by the river and caught a few channel cats then a buddy and I went to check out a pond that has had outstanding trout fishing up until last year when it seemed to have gone sterile. Unfortunately, it seems like there were once again no darn fish in the lake. Lots damn bloodsucking ticks. But, not a trout to be seen.

Ya, we figured that must be it. It is really too bad. Other than being the tickiest place I have ever seen it was a great trout pond. Huge hungry fish and lots of them.
Thanks for worrying about me. All is good. The main thing was I was blocked from 2+2 at work and had a hard time getting logged in with Tapatalk,. Lol.

We've had a really late spring this year and the bass are just getting on their beds now. Water temps are in the mid to high 50s as of Sunday.

Good luck and tight lines to all!

Detroit river was 48F this weekend. Walleye fishing was as good as you could ask for. got our 20 in an hour both days. Went last night and the bite shut down on us. Still managed 5 keepers in 3 hours. All small males.
