Since we are doing some animal pictures I thought I would post a few myself:

Porcupine by the side of the road (in Oregon) that was completely unconcern with the whole world; I could have touched him if I wanted to:

He then just ambled across the road:

Raccoon in tree near my apartment doing a night watch on the neighborhood:

Deer crossing my Mom’s driveway (in Oregon). There is small herd of about 4-5 young does and fawns and small bucks that hang about my Mom’s place almost every day. It is part of their loop about the area and they graze on leaves in the front lawn and backyard. Too used to humans they also nap in the backyard near the forest edge:

Decided on the T3 Lite Stainless .30-06. Not sure when I'll end up getting it, saving up for wedding, etc but I'll have it in time to get it sighted in for rifle season next year.

Never EVER plan a wedding or important even during hunting season. Well, that or if you do, do not plan on me being there.

LOL, I really created a HUGE fight between my Sister In Law and My Mother In Law back when SIL got married. They were all out visiting at one point before the wedding and we were talking about when to have the wedding (schedules and such) and I threw that statement in there. Later on the MIL and SIL are talking and get into a great big stupid fight (unbelievably, I think it was the SIL on my side) and the two of them didn't even talk to each other for something like 6 months. It was really ugly for awhile. LOL

I'm doing it wrong. My anniversary pre-empted my annual ice fishing trip which has now died since I quit going, and last year I skipped opening weekend of rockfish season to officiate a wedding.

Maybe I will just take the wife ice fishing for our anniversary.

FAC ocean made for good fishing this morning. Perfect fare for cheering on a 49ers playoff win.

This story is from an outdoors forum that I frequent. I wasn't there (I was fishing today, not hunting). I share it as a reminder.

Goose hunting today, a hunter shooting a Remington 870 had a hangfire with a bead drawn on a goose. In the heat of the moment, he just figured he had forgot to rack a shell. He pumped and the shell fired.

He is ok, a bit shaken but ok. It could have been much worse. No word on if the gun survived yet, but no obvious damage.

I have to share a proud papa moment from this morning.

My daughter, who turns 7 next month, has been anticipating spring turkey season. Junior opener is this Saturday, general opener is the 31st. This morning I was on my way out the door to my office (dressed in a suit, tie and overcoat) and carrying a shotgun. She looked at me, her lip started to quiver, and she said "You aren't going hunting without me, are you?"

pretty good fun. going out on the long pier and watching the crabbers and fishermen.
getting a sandwich at colombo deli and playing in the ten twenty forty blind no limit game at lucky chances.
might try surfing one of these times in the cold water. they do it right there at lindamar beach.

LOL I caught 2 on Saturday and they got me pretty good, lots of nicks and cuts. They are absolutely voracious. The biggest one I've ever caught was never on the hook - I caught a different fish, and the lingcod attacked it and wouldn't let go allowing me to scoop it off of the surface with a net.

i just spent a week on the northern oregon coast. mostly beach coming and eating.
camped out at nehalem bay state park mostly and that was fun.
found a dead seal on the beach one day someone shot at sea. fishermen dont like the seals as they eat a lot of what they catch. some shoot them. bad rap if they get caught.
