scary to have him go under your yak. if he came up it could be curtains for you or at least a dunkin.

depot bay is cool. and always seems to have whales around or killer whales.

Holy cow that is COOL!! I am sure it is a little bit nerve wracking but so cool would be worth it.

There's a creek about 45mins away that the state stocks 2x per year but the biggest they get are about 1.5lbs.

We always catch the limit using garlic cheese, corn or rooster tails.
Yes, we are fortunate. I just wish it was closer than 6 hours away.

I am thinking of trying more fishing in the fall this year. I finally have a nice boat to do it and do not need to spend so much time hunting this year either. So, may be a good time to see what fishing is like in the fall.

fall fishing is best. thats when you get the biggest fish and the weather is cool and not so hot. you can cast and blast if you want when floating a river.

I got lucky about 10yrs ago when I was working as a land surveyor. We did a job about 5 mins from my house that was supposed to be sold to McD's and had a 2 acre black berry patch that no one ever picked. I talked with the land owner and he said I could pick berries as much as I wanted as long as he owned the property.

McD's ended up buying a lot across the street and the berry patch is still there untouched every year except by me. I got 3 gallons last Saturday in less than 1.5hrs and will prob go back this weekend. Since the patch is basically untouched the berries are huge. On avg they're about as big around as a quarter and at least 1-1.5" long.

Yup, I was in the derby. Do to a rather stupid user, my camera didn't work. It's too bac because I caught and released a huge china. It was over 3 lbs on my scale and was 19" long. It would have been a record in California. I don't know what the record is in Oregon.

But no pics, so it didn't happen and I probably wasn't even there.

even though you werent really there your buddy mark got some good footage of the whale.
seems like you are living the fishermans dream anyway.

salmon are starting to come in to the oregon bays, silver and kings along with cutts. so fishing and crabbing is getting good north of you.

The coho have taken over the fishery here we can't retain them, not even clipped.

I'm currently in Kona on the big island. I went out this morning, saw a sea turtle. No hits and I got blown off the water. Scouting right now for tomorrow, hopefully the wind subsides.

Baby Brother graduated High School this year. Is enlisted in the Air Force, but refused to ship prior to Rifle season here in Michigan. Recruiter said no problem, he'll go after the Holiday's.

Just got a picture, he dropped this dandy (for Michigan) at 200 yards across the Ausable River. They are currently trying to figure out how to get it across the river, or to a road on the side they are on.

Slayer is the perfect rig for the job

If they don't find a better way shortly, I'm going to have to load it up, drive over and bail them out.

That deer would probably sink my racing canoes.

I'm with you Ray.

He's the outdoors one in the family though. I like to hunt and fish, but he takes it to the next level.

Normally I like to remove roadkill from the shoulder/roadway if it's not too mangled but I came across this hog late in the evening after a long day of riding and reckon it weighed +100lbs.

[IMG][/IMG]

A friend of mine eats roadkill regularly, much like the guy in this video. Pretty noble act if you ask me, anyone ever eat a pole cat?

Sometimes roadkill makes for good photography, mostly when it's torn up and maggot ridden not so much but this armadillo may have died from poisoning or natural causes, he fired off one last poo though

Nice buck w

Mother in law got a massive 11 point on Saturday. Since I'm still a newbie I have to wait until this weekend to head up to camp. So far they've got an 11,10,9 and an 8.

funny as i was looking at this thread before i posted, a very big five by six point buck was in my front yard chasing away a smaller 3 pointer, while herding around two does that were eating grass.

What do you guys think about fishing stocked rivers? I rafted down the Mckenzie River outside of Eugene, OR a couple months ago and they had just stocked it with rainbows. It was so easy to catch our limit it felt like cheating. They still tasted good though.

Hatcheries are critically important to our ability to continue fishing.

stockers are easy to catch usually between 8 and 12 inches. you can catch them all day. that is what they are for. mckenzie also gets runs of salmon and steelhead if you didnt know.

My son was in the same boat but was really zeroed in on getting into Air Traffic Control and we knew as soon as a position was open in ATC he would go even if it meant missing hunting this year. It is killing him but he is surviving.

Cross posted from the No Content thread. For some reason I couldn't get to this thread until it was updated. I suppose if I had looked harder....
Whatever, here you go...
