The uni is raw. The abalone was pressure cooked. Pressure cooking beats the hell out of, well, beating the hell out of the abalone. Two hours at 15lbs with a bit of chicken stock diluted in water, parsley and peppercorns.

When I first looked at the pike in the last picture, I thought he had grabbed your finger in his mouth. When I was a kid, the thing I always liked about pike was their teeth.

Did my annual hiking/camping/fishing trip to lake X.

Day one it was snowing sideways.

Day two it was 70 degrees. Man I love Colorado.

Caught more of these than we could count. Biggest was only about 3 pounds this year but we've caught 12 pound pike, 5 pound rainbows, and 5 pound smallmouth.

Brutal hike into this place but it's such an amazing place. It's just heaven. I tell myself every year as I'm getting my ass kicked coming out that I'm never going back in. Next year there I am again hiking in. I've been going there for over a decade now. I've seen giant elk, turkeys, deer, and bear. It's so hard to get to that only insane diehards go in.

Sorry for the photo bomb but I didn't think I had these pictures anymore.

This is a pike that weight 15.5 pounds but was only 38 inches long.

Two minutes later I banged this girl. 15.5 pounds but nearly 43 inches long.

Sorry about the quality. Here is another maybe 12-13 pounder.

Some random high lake pictures you guys might enjoy.

cool pics. i like the aspen trees. aspens groves of trees are mainly one tree with sprouts all over. they can cover a large area.

that lake x looks fairly high up to have bass and plke in. someone must have introduced them at some time. as well as having burned preety much.

I think it's about 7000 feet. You are correct the bass and pike are not natural to the reservoir. You almost sound like you know where it's at. haha

I have a stab in a finger that still hurts now from one. Stupid move on my part which pissed me off. Not the fishes fault

LOL, Yes, she did Ray. She has no issues with Hooters. She is the one who makes sure every trip we make to one, especially the Las Vegas one, that we get a shirt for the boy.

Waterwolves.. Great pictures. Thank You for sharing!

Wow that lake looks awesome.

Went camping last weekend. My son is still 1 but it was his 2nd camping trip. I don't think my parents took me camping twice. We took him out in a canoe and I don't think I've been in a canoe for ~25 years. It was cool. We plan on doing some canoeing this summer near my house.

My son's first fish. It's a bad angle the fish is actually huge. lol I casted the worm out for him but he hooked the fish and reeled it in all by himself. He's 3 1/2.

I went out in the rain today. First time in the kayak since May 17, I was going through withdrawals bad.

Got a 24 lbs salmon and a couple other fish. For scale, the lingcod is 26" long. Great day.

Man that looks so tasty. I'm going to have to go buy some fresh fish now. It's probably what i miss most about not living near the ocean. When i lived in the Chesapeake Bay area I was able to get fresh blue crab, sea trout, flounder, and Spanish Mackerel.

I use this line to justify my fishing relate purchases.

"I know it's a $200 reel but the first salmon I catch will pay for that."

Made a trip to Townsend, MT and Canyon Ferry Reservoir last weekend to fish and watch the youngest jump out of a plane.

Did really well on the Rainbow Trout, not so much on the Walleye. The trout fishing in this lake is really good and they are a ball to catch. So, we spent most of our time fishing for the Trout. We caught everything trolling crankbaits and missed/didn't get in the boat 10 times as many as we got in the boat. These fish fought like crazy and hit so hard that I even lost a pole when it snapped in half on the hit. We only had time to fish a few hours each day due to travel time and spending a good part of Saturday skydiving.

1st day

2nd Day

3rd Day - Forgot to take pictures but we had 6!

This whale was going in and out of our group playing with us on Saturday in Depoe Bay. It was a little scary but pretty cool. Second time in my life this has happened.

My buddy caught it on video, and at least a dozen of us got this exact experience.

Jealous of the rainbow trout. Wish there was a place near me where they got that big.

There's a creek about 45mins away that the state stocks 2x per year but the biggest they get are about 1.5lbs.

We always catch the limit using garlic cheese, corn or rooster tails.
