no animals no kids i dont go to parties.
I was invited to go out today, Ray, but I'm so mentally exhausted I just decided to stay home. I told one woman that she wouldn't miss me anyway. Her response: Don't you tell me how I can feel!

Geez. You can't win.

Hanging out at National Harbor where it's 70 degrees at 6:00 pm. Have lovely companion for dinner after an afternoon of day drinking along the waterfront.

It's not even 60 degrees in LA lately. Nights have been getting below 40. I think the US has flipped upside down.

Right. Pity sex and charity sex two entirely different concepts.

Here was a strange Hollywood girl story (again, wtf).

I'm walking along the sidewalk and this blonde is walking the opposite direction, wearing sunglasses. As she is getting nearer, she pulls off her sunglasses and is staring at me or something behind me? There's nothing but brick wall on my right. I'm thinking "do I stare back?"

And I did... we stared at each other for about 100ft while approaching each other and she's now next to me and clearly staring dead into my eyes.

I say nothing. Nothing at all.

I hate Hollywood. I just want everyone to know this.

wtf...sack up son.
if you make any sort of move and get rejected you're in the exact same spot as you are if you made no move at all.
if you don't get rejected, well....

It was eighty today in Alexandria and the National Harbor. Pre-conference workshop today, and we finished off around three with another night of dining and drinking.

There is another conference going on here--CPAC. Place is already crawling with secret service types. Sean Hannity broadcasting live.

What she did was the paranoid Hollywood **** you look. It's like saying "hi" but really, they are toasting to start a fight. I'm sure her yoga style could flatten me.

In situations like this, "you miss every shot you don't take" is a good thing.

IDK, if someone is staring that much, she must have seen me around and maybe we'll get into another stare down. Like John Cole, I'm so not in game mode that I really don't care that I'm sleeping at the wheel.

My colleague at this conference and I keep getting mistaken for married. We get back to the hotel, run into another couple from CPAC, and she introduces us: "Hi, I'm Sue and this is John, my husband."

I have to say I'm slightly flattered.

Dave,

I'm most definitely sleeping at the wheel. But you shouldn't be. At least I have age as an excuse, not that I really need an excuse.

What's the conference on this time, John Cole? Postmodern interpretations of existentialism?

National Developmental Education Conference, and all our foes, including the President, VP, and Secretary of Education are here.

Pretty easy to justify your expenses for that one, I would think.

My life is best described in three separate words:

gravy

train

wreck

Sometimes they work alone, sometimes in tandem.

I did not receive an invitation. But perhaps I contributed in the best way possible by staying away. Ditto for Phat Mack.

This. I have participated in both education and government, and have clearly formed opinions on both. It is best I stay away.

On a completely unrelated note, when I was a kid I loved making bombs and blowing things up. What fun! I'm sure if I were a kid today I would be declared a deviant and locked away, but then it was just, "Be careful. And if you destroy something, you're going to pay for it."

I often attribute my anarchism to the war, but I see now that the seeds were sown early.

Weren't the '80s a great time for music

True story: My grandparents lived in a little pink house close enough to a highway to hear the 18-wheelers go by.

Was in Florida for a week for my Dad's 82nd bday. No politics was discussed, so I count it as a win.
