For this apartment, what do u think would be a fair rent split, based on $1800 rent?

The person with the smaller bedroom would get the attached Den. The smaller bedroom doesn't have the bathroom attached, but it is next door.

200 difference seems too big, but making it less starts to seem more and more cheesy the more you look at it. The master bedroom, with its privacy and the continuity of its space and much bigger bath, is such a better situation, but then again 200 is a pretty huge difference at these price levels. The price direction going the other way seems much easier to figure out, and the lesser room should be at least $100 cheaper because of it. That den is ridiculously small though, more like a walk-in closet or a cubicle. Just not a very accomodating space.

$200 is definitely on the generous side of fair, but still not a flat out give-away of free monies. Anything between $100 and $200 seems possible, but I wouldn't nickel and dime the guy with the smaller room too much or he will build up some sort of hidden resentment somewhere and it will be a pain in the arse later.

auction is the absolute best possible idea. how much is someone willing to pay for the bigger room? $901? $902? figure it out.

What would you pay for the big room?
Whatever that number is, offer roommate the big room for that amount or you will pay it and take the big room.

this, and also I've found that it's really tough to tell anything of this nature from a floor plan (things can look quite difference once you actually walk in), so anything we say is bound to be inaccurate.
