Had great fun doing the films of the 21st century draft and thought of another draft idea.

Draft 1 movie for each year starting with 2019 and working back in time.
You can drop out of the draft on any year you want (if you're not into old movies or if you just get bored).

Draft will be Puerto Rico style because of the relatively narrow drafting categories (being in the middle would otherwise suck for a standard snake draft).

So if there are 8 drafters ABCDEFGH then it would work like this:

I understand if there's a reluctance to do this so soon after a movie draft so I'll shelve this if there's mostly "I would, but not now..." attitude.

I will run this now with a minimum of 8 drafters, myself included.

I would, but not now. Also would prefer that it move slowly.

Also, we have to do every tear since 1921.

We did a decade draft a few years ago

We could do both and score it like a Hollywood Gin game. Start at 2019, then after 2010, argue as to who one the 2019--2010 decade. Then after 2009, argue who won 2018--2009. This way the draft could go on forever. We could even do polls!

Don't forget to update the spreadsheet!

We should start in the Middle (~1960?) and draft by years both ways. Alternating. This will make the draft so complicated it will die under its own weight. Like all overwhelming bureaucracies.

Here's my idea to satisfy people who want this to run quick and also satisfy people who want this to run more slowly:

Imagine you're player H. With a 4 hour clock and even with no sleep time it could be 28 hours before you get a turn.

Imagine you're player A but you're not able to get to a computer for 12 hours while you work and so you get skipped and miss out on your favourite movie for a year.

Neither of these things are good.

Here's my solution:

Everyone makes 1 pick per day whenever they're able. If you're player A then you're 1st to pick for 2019, 2011, 2003 etc and so you can pick any one you want. When people ahead of you in line for a year draft their movie then it becomes available for you to draft too.

Everyone gets 24 hours to make their pick and nobody has to wait. Anyone see any problems or downsides with this?

Anyone interested? Should I start a new thread to raise awareness?

So, once a day you have to pick one year that's your turn, but not all years that it's your turn? Can you pick all you eligible turns?

you can only make 1 pick per day but it can be any of the eligible movies.

If you can pick all eligible picks then it becomes more like a list thread rather than a draft with write ups and discussion.

If we had 8 people playing then I would estimate that you'd get ~1 pick per day with a standard draft, only now there's added convenience of being able to pick it whenever you want.
