As mentioned, and I agree with, many people do indeed think way too much in terms of food that's are "good" for you and "bad" for you and pay no attention to the caloric value. Things like bread, potatoes, pasta, whole milk. They're all perfectly healthy, nutritious foods but are also very high in calories. People trying to lose weight need to understand this and make sure they don't overeat these things. You can get fat on nutritious food the same as junk food, provided you consume enough calories of it.

Inbreeding. The inbred mountain Southerner is meaner than any rattlesnake. Ever see 'Deliverance'? Those yokel parts weren't auditioned. Those are locals.

I'm not saying that Ozark/Appalachian kids have a monopoly on meanness. They just take it to another level.

Then later on they make great soldiers, e. g. Alvin York.
This is all bigotry and nonsense. Sorry you had a tough time, I guess. Get over it maybe.

Maybe it's not as bad on the Missouri side.

Doesn't sound much different than anywhere else with mixed socioeconomic demographic. The teasing stopped for me when I beat the popular teaser kids up. I was the new fat kid four times as my dad transferred around, and I was nowhere near the ozarks.

Didn't mean to hijack.

My initial point was that I'm familiar with being the object of ridicule because of being fat.

If I vented on your homies more than was required, I humbly apologize.

Weren't your parents college professors or something? Not a hell of a lot of those around Izard County. Maybe we didn't know the same crowds after all.

ok, ok, kids are mean everywhere, I'll stipulate that.

Pound for pound, I'd put the hillbilly up against the worst Baltimore 'corner yo' in terms of pure, set-a-cat-on-fire meanness.

I ain't crying. I voted with my feet right after hs and never looked back.

I'm just lucky my dad taught me how to fight and green lighted me to beat up bullies. Getting picked on sucked. Knowing that dad had my back if I got suspended helped a lot. My kids aren't fat, but they have the same rules as I did growing up:

If they get suspended for beating up a bully, I'm taking them to Disneyland. If they do they bullying, if the other kid doesn't finish it, I will.

Lol my daughter takes karate and has a similar green light to stop, not start, ****.

It does wonders for *me* knowing that she can put a man 3 times her weight on his ass before he knows what happened.

The very best and most virtuous people I've ever known were Ozark hillbillies. And I've been all over, baby.

Almost all were wiry and tough too.

Ok, ok.

When I was a kid I was fat.

A lot of the kids I went to school with were mean to me because of my weight, among other things. Weight was #1.

I still carry a lot of anger with me as a result.

Sorry I had a fight in the middle of your "fat people get picked on" thread.

I'll go over here and meditate.

Adam Richman, host of the pigout show Man vs. Food, has evidently lost 60 pounds recently.

Yeah, he twittered #thinspiration with the pictures of his weight loss, and that's some hot-button phrase for anorexic **** or something, and then he insulted his critics viciously. Interesting to see famous people getting into petty disputes just like we do here on 2p2.

Do we hate the anorexics too? A little I think. Lots of thin fetishization floating around, the dark fattie-hate backlash.

The thing is anorexia is 100% a mental disorder though. Wanting to eat is what's normal, it's easy to accidentally get overweight. Most fat people aren't mentally ill (although a fair number of them are, from an addiction stand point). Nobody in a developed country accidentally gets grossly underweight. Somebody purposefully starving themselves is a full blown mental illness 100% of the time.

Besides, for every one anorexic there's like 1,000 fatties.
