Fussel is one of the few who wrote accurately about combat. All of his WWII memoirs are classics. Start with Boy's Crusade.

He also wrote one of the best books on poetry, Poetic Meter and Poetic Form.

ill drink some of the almost micro beers that arent so full. your argument holds no water either as most drinkers still buy the regular old beers.
ive had ipas that i semi liked and many pale ales. but for one beer only. then its back to bud for me. and those new beers have too much alcohol in them to drink a bunch.

but its the thing now to go to the breweries for 7 dollar a glass beers instead of a bar. just like wearing designer jeans and making a case for them.

I last went to one of those bars with fancy beers a couple months ago. I had one beer, 4.7 % alcohol, and I could only drink one. I'm glad I passed on the Denogginizer, which was over 10%. I stick with wine or margaritas these days.

Hey Phat Mack, is having been in combat something you don't like to talk about, or something you're happy to talk about but which nobody asks you about?

You write very well. Are you a professional?

It's more like something I find difficult to convey, so I try to point people to writers who I think have done a good job.

Thanks for your surprisingly kind words. I say surprisingly because most of the things I post here are pre-first drafts, sorta first draft betas if you will, and I don't take many pains with them. I've had jobs that involved writing, but have never been a professional writer. I enjoy writing and try to do some every day.

You are all wrong about IPA's but that is fine - suffer through your no taste beer froth and foam and choke on it. No reason to say more. I was recently at a beer festival and had this fantastic well-named IPA:

Comatose IPA

I felt like a God before drinking it and became two Gods after drinking it. So stuff it, wankers.

Just ordered, The Great War and Modern Memory. Hope it lives up to the hype given by the Lounge Gods in this thread.

I'll read it after finishing up a book on the Spanish Inquisition that I purchased years ago but never got around to reading. So far it is a great read, five to six laughers on every page.
