bryce, i always supported you here and loved talking to you. you have been an infrequent poster so not in the thick of things all the time.

you were never considered an outsider in any way. and are totally wrong with what you are inferring now. re think your position please.

i no longer have a financial interest in this site so have no say in any other than being an occasional poster.

still your friend.

Thank youu

I’m an infrequent poster for the same reason I often need to rethink positions; I’m more of a doer than a thinker. I often drop everything to do something that momentarily interests me. I sometimes genuinely forget 2p2 exists.

Gobble Gobble!

Everybody have a great Thanksgiving and remember to eat and drink way too much and watch too much football. Although I'm not really sure if Bears/Lions is actual football.

Happy Thanksgiving to all. Overindulged in food, in drinks, and in Football. Should be easy for the likes of us Lounger’s!

My thanksgiving was bad. I watched some football too. It was the lions vs the bears. Next thanksgiving will be much better than the last.

Prisons are built with stones of Law, Brothels with bricks of Religion.

The eagle never lost so much time, as when he submitted to learn of the crow.

Chapter 100 of **** I never experienced before.

I decided to stay in an AirBnB while I try to figure this city out.

One of the other people living there, a 19yo girl, OD'd.

I hope to hell that I never see that again. I feel for anyone who has witnessed this.

(she survived)

19? Was she alone?
11-30-2021 , 02:05 AM
I guess you should say off the streets of any large American city where it happens every day. sadly.

No, she's with some dude. She'd probably be better off alone.

He woke me up and we did what we could while we waited for the fire department to arrive.

yes, it's awful, and has only gotten worse. one of the odd side effects of recent events is, the drug supply chain was disrupted. Been a lot of overdose and 51/50s.

in either case, I stay away from drug addicts as much as I can, and never expected to run into this situation at an AirBnB.

Was it heroin? Was she blue? Did you try to walk her?
11-30-2021 , 01:41 PM
I'm not entirely sure what it was. Supposedly, she crushed up some percoset and snorted it up her nose. I don't believe the story I was told, but I do believe it was likely percoset.

She was shaking a little bit and totally catatonic. She had beads of sweat the size of quarters dripping off her face. Her face was impossible to describe, completely inhuman. Her BF gave her chest compressions until help arrived. Even picking her up, rolling her over, was nearly impossible. She couldn't be but 125lbs, but she was completely dead weight, another concept I never understood before. Two of us were unable to move her. There was no walking her, just dragging a rag doll.

What hit me the most was the smell. It lingered in my nose for the next day. It is impossible to describe, but I suppose it smelled like someone puked metal.

There is nothing at all that prepared me for this. All the TV shows and movies don't do the reality justice. When I took the Red Cross classes, they taught us to sing "Staying Alive" while doing compressions, because the song is 120 beats per minute. In the classroom, that was funny.... I was on the phone with 911 screaming orders at the panicked bf. The operator said do compressions and the thought of using that song made me sick, so I counted for him.

I need to take those red cross classes again. It's probably been 30 years and I've forgotten it all.
11-30-2021 , 03:53 PM
I remember some of the information in the Red Cross was wrong / questionable, especially the part about helping someone who is on fire. Most people wouldn't be brave enough to do it the correct and fast way... You grab a blanket, or any piece of cloth, spread it out, and grab the fire with both arms. The fire goes out immediately because you take away all the oxygen. I can understand why Red Cross wouldn't tell you to do it that way.

When I took the class, we were informed that some states stopped doing mouth-to-mouth CPR, and found it was more effective to simply do chest compressions. The "staying alive" is horrible, but you really can't forget it even when it's 3am and shaken awake.

I moved from that place as quickly as I could. I have no desire to see what would happen next. I'm surprised the police didn't come by. As far as I know, the owner of the place doesn't know this happened. I don't want to be involved no more.

I had to take the Red Cross First Aid Classes for more than 20 years. They constantly changed on details and upgrades of many things to do and not do. And became more simple as the years progressed. And of course technology came in (defibrillator machines etc) that changed some of the class structure. Some basics remained the same - do no more harm, keep calm, notify proper authorities, keep victim(s) as safe and secure as possible etc.

i had friends die that way 50 plus years ago. its nothing new. and in small city areas and suburbs. its where ever you are.

its a voluntary death, even though many say it isnt.
11-30-2021 , 11:25 PM
Ray. You are correct. I don't think I ever met someone who didn't have a friend, relative, or acquaintance pass that way. Addiction and drugs are a horrible thing.

Zeno;

I think your summary of the Red Cross class is correct. In practice, someone is in an absolute panic. We aren't professionals, no matter how many cards we have.
