These are sweet. You got them from AE itself?

Yes, on AE's website they were on clearance for $157 with an e-mail for an extra 25% off clearance. AE.com still has them for $157 but only with sizes 8.5, 10, 11.5 and 12 remaining.

champ- Billy Reid stuff is awesome. I'm sure the peacoat will be great quality if the cut is right for you.

Malkas- Just a guess, but John Varvatos? The leather looks pretty cheap from that small photo though. (That's partially why I'm guessing JV.)

Kpowers- Those aren't the exact items. Someone is just doing one of those "simulate this look for cheap" exercises. As you can see, RR's coat has more buttons, no huge pockets, is a million times nicer and probably 5 times the price.

Picked up a pair of AE Norwich monks on ebay.

Same size/widths as my Strands and Park Aves, but they fit pretty loose. Different lasts.

This is at the top of my list as well. Living in the NE, a good coat is something I use like 100 days a year. The fact that I haven't seen it in person to inspect it and see how it fits is the only reason I don't have it.

If you do pull the trigger online, I believe you can get it for 10% off at Eastdane with a coupon code.

Was planning on going to the NYC store to see about the fit and then buy online if cheaper. Thanks for the coupon headsup. I'll report back on sizing too.

I never got Indy boots until I bought a pair of Ultimate Indy's. they are now my go to pair anytime the temp is below 60ish, rain or snow or sun.

I take them for a week traveling as my only pair of shoes, no problem. they are comfortable and durable, will stay dryish in the rain. grip in the snow and ice. have no problem mucking them up and they clean up nice.

Thanks. I wear a 40s in most jackets though I have a 43 inch chest. I fear that I'd have to get a small to get a good fit in the shoulders and the right length, and the smalls are supposed to be pretty hard to come by so I expect I won't pull it together in time for winter.

Anyone know a good place to get a good classic Red/Black Buffalo Plaid Flannel? It's much harder than I anticipated.

Anyone use Onlineshoes.com before? They have a 20% off ALL shoes when you spend $80+ coupon. Seems too good to be true.

my only advice is to only buy them if you're sure you love them. better off buying less stuff and buying only the stuff you love.

I really like the P&Cs but I was worried they're a little too dark. I love the color of the RL's but wasn't looking for an ankle boot or chukka.

what tone of brown is best for smart shoes (brogues) that can be worn with jeans?

i like the brown version of these (not the suede) but not sure if they're suitable/would look good

I suppose you can go any, but on the one you link I think the suede go best with jeans and the brown looks a little fancy for them. Perhaps with that design, walnut would be better.

Thoughts on either of these with a light grey suit? (RE: the wedding outfit post earlier) (see below)

Thoughts on this suit at $350 (after 40% off and $40 in rewards):

The chukkas wouldn't work with a suit but the peal would be fine. That's not a bad price for the BR suit but I think you could probably do better for the money or a lil more.

Looking at getting another frequent wear shoe/boot for going out. Currently my go to options are:

Brown Neumoks
http://www.allenedmonds.com/aeonline...40000000001_-1

Walnuts Tweeds
http://www.loake.co.uk/tweed.html

Some desert boots
http://www.asos.com/au/Ben-Sherman/B...pQodWiYADQ&r=2

some navy sperry's
http://www.zappos.com/sperry-top-sid...fcTest=fac%3A1

and these boots
http://www.andrewmarc.com/greenwich.html

Only thing is, I dont really like the greenwich boots as they are kinda clunky looking in large sizes and not very comfortable, and my other chukka boots are a little worse for wear. Tossing up getting another pair of neumoks in say navy or suede, getting a pair of go to boots I actually like, or open to suggestions. Also have some sperry loafers as well for summer and some Park aves for getting dressed up, but looking more something to wear with jeans/chinos

Thoughts?

I found these on zappos browsing and really like them but not for $450

I can never find a pair of boots that I like significantly more than my desert boots to warrant an upgrade at 5x the cost. Alden Indy boots maybe, but I tried a pair on today and was unimpressed.

Of the things you linked, Paul Smith stuff seems generally excellent to me, FWIW.
