1. Immediately apply leather conditioner, especially to the front uppers where they will crease as you walk. You have no idea how long they've been sitting on the shelf, so might as well condition them. (I use Lexol).
2. Polish if you want to add a slight protective layer
3. I personally use the rubber half-soles and heel plates. I wear down the outer edges of my heels terribly, so the plates ($5 installed) were a must have for me. The half-soles ($20 installed) are just nice to have for slightly better grip and bad weather.
Just picked up some leather conditioner, polish and a horse hair brush. Hope this will be able to get me going
Regarding 3. Is it also "ok" to just let the sole be as it is? (I read something about taking a knife and making some very fine lines in a x-pattern, to make them less slippery)? I have really no idea what the "standard" thing is to do here.

Oh and if anyone can refer me to anything that relates to fashion + jordans, that would be awesome
The point of those Jordans (besides obv being used for basketball) is that they should stand out. You will never match the colours completely, and if you do, you might look too much like Turtle from Entourage. I think the way to wear colourful sneakers is to have more "boringly" coloured clothes to go with them. If there are a ton of colours all over you, you just look like a sloppy teenager.
A pair of regular or black jeans and a plain T-shirt.

They are obviously sport shoes, but they work very fine in a casual, urban setting (these specifically are on the "louder" side, though).
