Looks vintage. I dig it, but not an every day thing.

Looks like an excellent wardrobe addition, as long as it fits correctly of course.

I haven't waded through this entire thread, so apologies if this has already been answered. I tend to have the problem of my dress shirts bunching up a bit when I am wearing them.

Now, I know what you are thinking, and no, it's not because they don't fit. I wear slim to extra slim shirts, usually from slimmer brands in general (pink, boss, etc.). I do happen to be pretty skinny (6 foot, 150) so it could just be because of that, but I don't think so. It also could be that I just don't like to accept any level of bunching, so it's potentially a completely reasonable level to most, but it's just annoying to me.

Anyway, was wondering if anyone else has had this issue, if there are obvious solutions, either in the brand, materials, details of the shirts I buy (buy shirts that run shorter length, for example), or tips on how to wear a well-fitted shirt so you don't have to worry about it.

Where are they bunching?

just right above the belt. It also seems like it bunches up more as the day goes, so I find myself re-tucking every so often, though that might be completely normal, i dunno.

There might not be any real solution, since like I said, I already wear super slim, well-tailored shirts. But I see many people who seem to be wearing similar shirts that seem to be fitting their bodies better, so just curious if anyone has any random tips or thoughts on things I might do to minimize it further..

So the "bunching" is really just the shirts coming un-tucked from movement throughout the day?

I guess just continue to re-tuck. Not sure if it is completely standard, but it does happen to me as well.

European cuts are supposed to be even slimmer/more tailored so try a tailored fit from Charles Tyrwhitt or TM Lewin. Also, the dimensions of the shirts should be posted on their sites so you could compare them to your shirts.

It makes it worse, but most of my shirts, even when I first put them on, don't fit 'just right' to me. Probably a tough question for you guys to answer since you don't know exactly what the right fit is for me or what usually happens, but the general question is just does anyone have tips to avoid bunching or keeping a very slim profile with your shirts in general (outside of getting slim or extra slim cut brands)...

If your shirt fits you, you should have minimal to no bunching. Therefore, try a European extra slim (compare the measurements of your shirts now to these shirts to see if there's a difference) or get a MTM shirt or a tailored shirt.

Pretty good Uniqlo sale this week.

Anyone in NYC want to proxy the linen shirt for me on Tuesday and the linen jacket on Thursday? Willing to cover all costs + shipping + a few bucks for your time.

They don't sell online? Would really like that linen blazer for that price.

they'll have to either increase production and the quantity of fabrics ordered to meet demand which will lower quality or raise their prices.

tadashi yanai is really big on the relationship employees have with customers which is one of the likely reasons they haven't gotten into e-commerce in the us. i'm sure in time there will be an online store along with more store locations in major metro areas.

i mean, if it costs "x" to make a 20 dollar linen blazer, what part of increasing your scale would make it cost more than 10x to make 10 linen blazers? usually as you scale up, your per-unit costs go down. if they have a really labor intensive process i could see how their costs might not drop MUCH, but i wouldn't expect them to go up. but i am no expert.

anyway, stupid tangent, i am obv just mad that i can't buy chinese-american apparel on the interwebs.

My suit is stained quite badly with what is probably some sort of alcohol. Will it matter if I wait a week or so to get it cleaned or should I really do it as soon as possible?

waiting isn't going to help

BTW I just raped brooks brothers this weekend, 40% off a lot of stuff. If you need like no-iron shirts (and who doesn't) now is the best time to buy.

speaking of no-iron shirts

i may get ridiculed for this, but i've got a bunch of lands end no-iron shirts and i really like them. they go on sale pretty often for less than 20 bucks and i just load up. the fit is a little bulky, but i'm kinda fat, so it works.

a bunch of their patterns are terrible but they have a few that are pretty nice.

If you're lurking this thread or whatever: Here is some science

No-iron(or wrinkle free, whatever) shirts or get the **** out. I really don't care if some forum all star comes in here and trashes me for not wearing freshly pressed Kiton shirts every day. No iron shirts are the greatest thing to happen to men's clothing ever.

Regular shirts should be banned
