Yeah, I went to Bloomingdales, Saks, Bergdorfs, etc. and Tux my GF and I liked the best was notch 1818 one button at Brooks.

Appreciate the comment on superdick nits because you can imagine the type of response this questions is getting at styleforum. I like notch as long as well constructed with nice satin lapels, understand being a nit if it looks more like a black suit jacket.

Yeah if it's one button and has satin lapels, then f*** the haters.

I know nothing about tuxedos but I like the first one a lot better than the rest. Then I googled notch tuxedo and looked at the BB one.

Conclusion: SF is wrong and you are right

Are these bucks and Seavees pretty interchangeable, or would you be wearing them with completely different outfits? The bucks can be dressed up or down. Can the SeaVees be dressed up, or are they much more casual?

I wouldn't try to dress up the SeaVees, imo

If "dressed up" to you is anything more than chinos and a polo, then no, the seavees cannot be dressed up.

Bucks can be more "dressed up" but they're still very casual.

Yeah, both seem very casual to me.

On suits how do you decide on the number of vents in the back?

0 for dinner jackets/tuxes, 1 or 2 (personal preference) on everything else

I guess I meant dress-casual, like button up shirt, chinos and blazer. Seems like the bucks are more versatile if I'm choosing between the two, no?

If I get a light brown coat and wear dark brown shoes is that a problem?

what are you needing it for? A macintosh-type coat like the 2nd would be better for business, even if you're wearing business casual, and would be mandatory if you wear a sport coat or suit.

Thanks. I'm transitioning most of my clothes to more business casual lately so I'll likely get that one. Thoughts on Khaki jacket + darker brown shoes?

Crap, they don't have it in my size. Where else do you guys buy coats online?

There's tons of places you can find raincoats like that for pretty reasonable prices, but the trick is the timing. Earlier this year places were killing themselves to get rid of trenchcoats. There was a fantastic brooks brothers city trench on sale for like $120 back in like early spring. J. Crew/LL Bean/Land's End also have reasonable classic trench coats that look good.

related: I don't have a pinterest, but if I did, this would be on there:

bought a few pair of paul smith jeans the other day. their slim fit fits me pretty well and the denim is lighter than my two pair of raw denim so will be nice for the summertime

im pretty sure im going to hong kong tomorrow to get fitted up and ordering some bespoke suits. i don't really ever have a reason to wear a suit outside of fancy dinners and weddings (two in the fall), but it still seems like a good thing to do so i may end up getting 4-5 of them. i think maybe 2 classic suits, 1 flashy/vegasy, and 1 more unique might be what i go for. i don't really have any insight going in, i usually just have a vague idea of what i like and then buy whatever i think will look good and things turn out well enough. any ideas?

If you never wear suits why do you want 4-5? They will be expensive, take up a lot of closet space, and you have to worry about moths and getting them tailored as your body changes. Plus, if you don't like their work you'll be stuck with all of them. A navy suit can be very versatile.

I would definitely go in with colors in mind. Make sure to get one navy and zero black and add on from there. You will probably want a charcoal.

In descending order of priority. Charcoal. Navy. Medium grey.

Don't buy anything black.

Or save yourself a trip and go to indochino.com

Yeah, if you wear a suit a couple times a year it seems silly to have 4-5. You're only going to wear each suit once every 2-3 years. I wear a suit probably 4-5 times a year. I have one charcoal suit. It's appropriate for any event you might need a suit for.

man, what do you mfers do that you never need suits? i consider myself kind of a bum and i wear one at least once a week.

re: that indochino deal. i have been looking for a nice brown suit for a while, also considering navy or navy pinstripe as the one i have is in pretty poor shape. anyone have experience with them and want to comment on one of these?
