I thought Eclleston could never be replaced but thought Tennant did an amazing Job quickly and same when Tennant left thought he was irreplaceable but Matt Smith is easily best doctor of modern doctors ainec i think he is amazing.

I finished The Doctor, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. While I enjoyed it, it didn't rise to the level of tearjerker for me, and I've been known to tear up over commercials.

Did not have the impact of the Christmas special based on A Christmas Carol.

I much preferred TDTWATW to the Christmas Carol episode, which I found nonsensical.

Regeneration 1 Series 014 The Crusade

Eh not bad, one of the better ‘historical’ Doctor Whos of the early days. Set in 12th century Palestine, we have intrigues and fights involving King Richard and his knights, Saladin and his moors, with the Doctor and his companions in the middle. There’s some interesting plot strands (Barbara tells Saladin of her time with Nero, teh future invasion by the daleks, and the insect planet, and he thinks she could be the new Scheherazade). I liked this one.

5/10

Regeneration 1 Series 015 The Space Museum

Starts with an interesting premise, where the Doctor and company seem to have slipped into a sidestream of time, when they land in a Space Museum, but cannot be seen or heard, but can observe. They find themselves and the Tardis as exhibits. Eventually, the time sidestream joins back and they become part of a more conventional adventure and become in a power struggle between the ruling Moroks and the enslaved Xerons. The entire series ends with an interesting conclusion – the daleks are hunting them through time.

5/10

For anyone with Virgin media. they are showing some old Dr Who's on demand

Maybe this isn't news but I just found it. Watching City of Death written by Douglas Adams. 1979 with Tom Baker and Mrs Richard Dawkins.

My media hasn't been virgin in a very long time.

My apologies, but I'm going a bit daft waiting for the new season. When does it come on the American telly, anyway.

Asylum of the daleks

Good episode, very very nice conclusion, and good to get a preview of the actress playing the new assistant.

Oh and zombies created by dalek-tek!

Moffat really does work in the elicitation of profound emotions as naturally emerging from the situations the characters find themselves in.

I'd be worried that they've written themselves in a hole but I thought that about last season's opening episode.

Spoiler:
Talking about the Ponds and that Amy can't have children.

ehhh. wasn't a big fan of the episode as a season opener

Spoiler:
I wasn't sure whether it was meant to be funny, or if it was just me. Like, there were some serious issues being discussed and whatever, but the bit at the beginning where all the Daleks were shouting SAVE US was hilarious, as well as the Rory/eggs thing. Was a bit of a strange mix.

I also thought the ending was a little bit predictable. They kinda foreshadowed it too obviously, if you were paying even the blind bit of attention you'd get it, or at least a vague idea (I was 50/50 of her being inside a Dalek unknowingly or knowlingly setting a trap for him)

Oh, and, Idk about this new companion. I'm not sure how having two Geniuses roll around the universe together is going to be quite as compelling. It'd be like having two Sherlocks and no Watson. Just weird. However, super cute, so that's a plus.

Idk how they're gonna paint themselves out of where they've dug, although I REALLY REALLY want next seasons companion to be her stuck inside a Dalek, it'd be hilarious, if just exceptionally unlikely to happen.

I'm just glad it's back, and the delay was only a day or so here. Like Time Lady, I wasn't overwhelmed by the first one, but I did enjoy the set up for the new companion.

OH MY GOD

Spoiler:
Arthur Weasley and Filch. And Mitchell and Webb as gay robots.

And dinosaurs

That was an amazing episode

I've mentioned this in the OOTV thread, but given Time Lady's last post, it bears repeating here. Or at least a version of it.

My fiancee is not a big fan, but she loves me enough to sit and watch Doctor Who with me on occasion. I was under the weather and slept most of the afternoon and into this evening so I missed tonight's episode. But my fiancee didn't. I had it set up to tape and she was watching something else when the record light came on so she decided to see what it was.

The bottom line is she watched it, enjoyed it, and is awaiting the next episode.

Spoiler:
With the next companion, it might be a nice change of pace if they made Oswin actually smarter than the Doctor. Or at least more focused like River Song is more focused.

Asylum of the daleks follow up

Spoiler:
Maybe the actress is playing a different character as the assistant?
DR WHO APPRECIATION THREAD Quote
09-09-2012 , 08:52 AM
Spoiler:
It is either a different character as the companion's name is said to be Claire Oswin and the character in Asylum was Oswin Oswald or it could be The Doctor meets an earlier version of the same character, travels with her, gives her the means to override the Dalek programming when she becomes a Dalek, and thus ensuring the wiping of the Daleks' memory of him.

But that seems horribly cold.

Spoiler:
There is a wikipedia page for the actress and something happened I've never seen before. Her character name in Asylum is a link on her real name page, but when you click it, you bounce back to the page you're on.

Dinosaurs on a spaceship was a great episode. Did anyone notice the rather sinister foreshadowing in it when the Doctor and Amy were talking?

Also the trailer for next week's episode reminded me distinctly of Red Dwarf episode The 4 Gunmen of the Apocalypse

Companion:

Spoiler:
The theory I'm hoping for is that the new companion is an ancestor of the girl in the dalek.

Has there ever been a human companion that wasn't from Present Day Earth?

There have been companions not from present day Earth, but they weren't Earthlings. As far as I can recall.

Spoiler:
This is just a guess, but I believe that the companion Claire Oswin will be shown to be an ancestor of Oswin Oswald. I'm basing this on the fact the 2012 Christmas Special will be set in Victorian times.
