I bit the bullet and bought one anyway, £170 in black with free shipping which I think is a pretty decent deal

If I hate it I'm pretty confident I can get back pretty much 100% of what I paid for it anyway

I sat in the humanscale freedom at a store once and was genuinely surprised at how UNcomfortable it was. I would definitely try before you buy.

Everyone should just get the Embody; it actually is that good.

Whats the difference and pros/cons of buy from a authorized Steelcase (or Herman Miller Dealer) other than price?

For example looking at Steelcase leaps here:
Non - Authorized (condition open box)-
http://www.madisonseating.com/leap-c...steelcase.html

http://www.hightechseating.com/index...FQMhDQodkylFag

Authorized:
http://www.officedesigns.com/product-exec/product_id/5?cid=3534^"steelcase+leap+chair"+^GGL&gclid=CLywn 4XFpaACFQ0eDQodY2_FZw

Does anyone have any experience buying these chairs in open box condition from either of these retailers or a similar one?

Also what is difference between Leap v1 and v2?

I recently got an Aeron to replace my crappy Staples chair and I'm loving it. I tested it out in a store and liked it betting than the Mirra and similarly priced chairs from other brands. Haven't tried the Embody though

I bought an aeron on ebay but I can't lean back. The tilt limiter is down. I already tried all combinations of the tilt limiter and forward tilt. What could be wrong?

I'm currently undecided between the Herman Miller Embody and the Celle.

I'm 6'5, 280 or so, and I can't find one of these locally to try out. Only can try the Aeron, and I don't have a problem with it, but it does cost $1.3K approximately at my local dealers (yeah, they are that expensive, the drawbacks of living on a Caribbean island). So if I have to spend that kind of money anyway, I prefer to order it and get the best possible one for my buck.

The Celle is significantly less expensive, which means it would be a ncie stop gap to get right now. I'm not a balla, so a $1.1K chair (best Embody price I find on amazon pre-shipping and import taxes) is definitely leave a huge mark in my roll...

... but I could always grind a whole month only to get the Embody anyway though. I would consider it a "work investment".

That said, it looks like the Embody in Mango Balance Fabric Titanium Base or the Blue Balance Fabric Graphite Base are the ones I'm currently gunning for. Owners, have you noticed a difference between Balance Fabric and Rhythm Fabric (prior to purchase/while testing/longterm etc.), or is it just Marketese to get me to spend more?

Finally made a decision mainly based on recommendations in this thread and bought an Embody from officedesigns.com for $1200. Have had chair for 2 weeks and am extremely happy with my purchase. I can now sit in comfort at my desk for hours on end and play poker. Been able to double my hands played this month over my monthly average. Haven't really tried any other chairs before buying this one so i can't compare to other chairs in this thread.

Got my Embody yesterday, been using it a lot since. Pretty happy w/ it so far, played a couple long sessions w/ far less fatigue than normal. It kinda hugs your body and moves with you, makes you wanna lean in to it and wiggle.

Mine's all black w/ Rhythm fabric, graphite base & graphite supports.

The balance fabric looks a bit nicer I believe, but also shows more wear over time afaik. The graphite base is nice, it's made of metal (not plastic like I had thought) and shouldn't show much wear at all, but if I could do it again I might go w/ the polished aluminum base to make it pop more.

The chair is just so sick. I have had an Aeron, Freedom, and Leap in the past. None of them helped. The Emobdy has been a Godsend. It looks pretty sweet to if you get a good color.

Most brands have "where to buy" sections on their websites where you can enter your zip/state

I bought mine here:

http://www.smartfurniture.com/produc...ody-Chair.html

It arrived in about 10 days, though there was a mixup with the shippers and it was supposed to get here much sooner.

Btw, I just got my chair and am trying to adjust it. How the hell do you adjust the height?

From the pdf:

Angle the joystick fully and
lower seat to the lowest
position.

Lift your feet onto your toes
to remove your thigh weight
from the front of the seat.

Angle the joystick fully;
lift your weight to raise
the seat height to the
desired level.

Not to get into how horribly this is worded, but I am moving the white joystick thing all around and lifting my weight off the chair but nothing is happening. Am I doing something wrong?

Hmm, well I called HM and they walked me through it, but the process I had to take was not at all clearly described in the .pdf. Strange.

I tried out several chairs today and decided that I have to have the Embody. The store is selling it for $1199. Doing a brief internet search I don't see for any less online. Is anyone getting it for less?

I'm 6'1" and have problems with lower back pain. my posture isn't very good and after sitting in a chair for multiple hours my back feels terrible.

any recommendations for a chair that helps me sit upright? supports lumbar? and stays comfortable for 6+ hour sits?

Thanks

How does the embody and aeron feel on your back? I'm going to a design shop downtown to checkout both of these. I don't have chronic back pain or anything, I just have lame posture and slouching for long hours leads to much pain in lower back.
