Pick cultural events that changed the game. Changed either the art form, or how we think about it, or society in general, or the technology...whatever you think "cultural event" means.

Just don't "great songs" or "awesome movies." Or crap like thiat.

CULTUAL EVENTS!

Got it? Who's in?

I'm not sure what you are talking about. Does it have to be something we witnessed, or could it be something like the...
Spoiler:
Armory Show?

not something you witnessed necessarily....just something big that changed the world in some way...

Can we add a rule that we cannot choose [undrafted]?

I'll be in.

Would be wise to walk back a few years - it takes time for Cultural Events to have any real historic meaning. If that is what "a game changer" means. Because it must last some time and not be some flash in the pan. Pre 2000?

Both John Cole and I were born in 1953, so there is that.

I love the idea, and would be "in" if it could be a very slow-moving draft - as in one pick a week. or one pick a month.

Unless something clicked in my brain, I would have to review every event I knew of, and then run it through a "game-changing cultural event: yes/no" algorithm. This would take some time. Plus, my definition of culture may differ from that of the majority.

I like this idea. I'd be in too. I'm already trying to tilt my head sideways to get a Phat Mack view of "culture." Ezra Pound spelled it Kultur, BTW.

I am still slightly confused... you mean like the Crucifixion of Jesus?

I think there are A LOT of spectacular historical events that really changed nothing of significance... Krakatoa, The Killing Fields, Assignation of JFK. etc...

Phat Mack tossed out in a spoiler one cultural event I think important. When I taught modernism in literature, it was part of a PowerPoint I did for my classes.
