Kudzu used to make me laugh when he'd go off on a rant about Billy Joel.

My area has a "classic country" station which is the only commercial station I've listened to for more than five minutes at a stretch in the past decade. Sadly, their idea of "classic" runs several years beyond where I think the cutoff for "classic" should be.

I have to admit that I'm quite surprised by how many posters here still listen to commercial radio. Mindless commercials and stations breaks drive me crazy. I practically abandoned commercial radio in 2003 when I put an XM radio in my car. I abandoned satellite radio when XM merged with Sirius and the Cross-Country "station" disappeared.

Since then it has been exclusively mp3 player, cell phone, and USB stick in the car except for extremely short runs around town.

This station I found in Tampa is turning out to be pretty damn good. It's a mix of just about everything from new Chris Cornell to old school Led Zeppelin. Heavy metal, southern rock, just about everything. A lot of songs I've never heard. And, I haven't heard the same song twice yet.

Ozzy Osbourne's "Crazy Train" has been on loop this week. I like it, but easily get tired of it.

I'd just purchased some quality suds at my gas station tonight when I noticed Gimme Three Steps blasting from the radio. I felt really good as I drove home.

My top 5 Skynyrd songs:
1 That Smell
2 Gimme Back My Bullets
3 Gimme 3 Steps
4 Sweet Home Alabama
5 Freeeeebird

Any list of Skynyrd without Simple Man just seems wrong. Tuesday's Gone is pretty damn great as well although somewhat overplayed.

Listened to GnR's version of this on the radio yesterday. Axel really does go to town with it.

Heard The Hollies Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress the other day and was thinking how well it has held up. It's still way cool.

Also Three Dog Night's - One (kind of an interesting orchestral version)

I like Simple Man. Abundance of riches etc.

All of the Hollies' hits are neglected.

Two more great Hollies tunes:

Any skynyrd without simple man is invalid.

Hollies hits I love. Can't say ive dug into their catalogue too deep. LCW and bus stop are just quintessential records from that era/style. The opening guitar arrangement for LCW is actually quite easy to master and it sounds bad ass.

Off topic: What qualifies as "Quality Suds"?

Long Cool Woman is an Awesome song. Last band I was in I sang that one and it was always a huge hit. This was back before it was easy to get lyrics on the internet (Yes, I AM that old) and it is really next to impossible to get the real lyrics to that song by listening to it. But I had a friend who was in a different band who did that tune and he sang and I asked him for the lyrics finally and asked how he got them. Turns out he had the same issue but the keyboard player in his band new a guy who knew the guy who did the song and got the lyrics that way. Lame story but it still makes me laugh. (Yes, I am not only old but also easily amused)

I'm drinking rum and coke right now at home. Not common. Actually just finished off a bottle of rum that dates back to circa 2009, purchased in Jamaica.

Pat Benatar and Motley Crue both have upcoming concerts here. Song count for the last 5 days. I actually wrote these down.

Heartbreaker - 4
Love is a Battlefield - 3
Home Sweet Home - 5

And I don't even drive that much.

edit: Wouldn't mind a little Treat Me Right or Dr. Feelgood mixed in there.
