Eventually the suspect pulled them out and as the victim was fleeing, he struck him again in the back of the head and the strike caused visible damage to the victim's skull. Did anyone else hear about this??? I didn't and I don't see anything on Google but my co-worker says the Subway guy is a reliable guy.
Heard nothing about this in the news.

anyone going to any of the DMB Caravan shows this weekend? I'm not a DMB fan at all but the lineup of other acts tomorrow isn't bad. Thinking about going.

No DMB for me, but going to be checking out burger fest in roscoe village today. Looks delicious: http://www.chicagoevents.com/event.cfm?eid=179

Went there for lunch today after our golf round. Solid burgers, fries, funnel cakes, and pina coladas.

Not that many hot girls though fwiw...lots of families. 95 degrees too so I bailed after an hour.

they were going to sell tickets for next thailand today but servers got so overwhelmed they had to cancel! seems like they really need to switch to some sort of lotto system and maybe increase the prices.

chis,

Honestly this screams of "they should have gotten better database consultants" more than anything else. I don't know if it's fair to say they should raise prices, given that the concept of the restaurant is to have varying prices that allow for price discrimination and for people to get very strong value out of things like Weds early evening seatings. When combined with their same night offerings, they're most likely making money hand over fist. You have to remember that they aren't trying to maximize the revenue on a single sale, and that restaurants in particular (in theory at least) derive huge gains from having more people who want to consume their products (at the price point available) but are unable to.

Of course, I don't know if there was any price change between the first Thailand tickets sold and the original run for Paris, or if they've kept them the same. I'm fairly sure if they raised every ticket price $10 they'd do basically nothing to the demand, and just make a bunch more money.

I personally found today super obnoxious and absolutely insulting to the people who showed up to buy tickets (whether it was 5000 or 15000 or however many). There's limits to how far they should let their ego push the idea that they can build this system from the ground up without getting serious 3rd party help. They posted that the volume was "like a DoS attack" when in fact the system they are implementing on purpose is exactly sylistically like a DoS attack that they've engineered against themselves. I'm waiting for them to post the users/hits numbers as I think they will, but I really doubt they're going to post a number over say, 50k users, and that's a number that I'm sure a quick phone call to SAP would make them able to handle quite easily.

Anyway, chisness, I thought you moved to Canada or something for the grinding, what's up with that?

Well, in terms of user experience on a website, that was terrible, but I got tickets for this Sunday, so hopefully it was worth it.

Weee, I got tickets for 9/11. I decided on the "beverage pairing" instead of the wine pairing. Punch and beer sounded fun.

Grant Achatz's restaurant. Same guy who owns Alinea and The Aviary. Changes style and food every 3 months.

LP is where some of the places ive looked at are so Im glad Im on the right track. Park View looks nice from what Ive seen and some rooms are under 1000.
From what you're saying, don't isolate yourself to LP. Nothing against it, but Lakeview, Bucktown, NE Wicker Park, and some of the West Loop seem up your alley, too.

Yeah, +1.

I hardly listen to the radio at all anymore because I don't have a car but Q101 was such a big part of my childhood/teen years. Top 5 at 5, Friday night Cagematch, Loveline...really sad.

I was there tonight too. Saw Achatz running around, so like a good fanboy, I got my take home menu signed by him and Beran.

What time were you there?

Just moved from Diversey and Pine Grove to Addison and Fremont. In fact, we (girlfriend and I) moved almost everything today by ourselves in unbelievable heat -- up to 103 heat index is some party's of the area. Our first meal in the new place was Ian's Pizza from a couple blocks over. Good stuff.

Any recommendations for legit, quality sit down restaurants in the Wrigleyville community? We're open to all kinds of cuisine and we're eager to make the rounds.

That's near my apartment. Not that close to LP (you'd have to take the redline), but very close to Oldtown. Great area.

yeah the place I wanted was filled up so I basically just walked south down lasalle and went into every complex asking if they had a studio open for august until I got one.

A lot easier to get to Wicker Park from there than LP. WP has a much better nightlife than the Gold Coast or LP, IMO, and better BYOB restaurants there/Bucktown/Ukie V.

Congrats!

Also, not sure how much of a Yelp user you are, but Yelp Chicago's a really solid community for newbies to the city and lifelong vets.

Does anyone know of a website that shows (i.e. maps) all city streets on which you can park for free? I'm looking for such a website for various northern Chicago neighborhoods (Lincoln Park, Lakeview, Wrigleyville, etc.) rather than downtown.

Girlfriend is out of town this weekend. This may sound lame, but I think either Friday or Saturday(whichever day I don't go out with people), I'll probably do a bit of a beer tour around the city. Basically looking to go to a couple bars around the city and get a couple beers at each one. Will obviously stop and eat sometime as well. Thinking I'd like to spend $5-$6 most places for a beer, so nothing too fancy.

So, suggestions for bars to go to by myself, and also suggestions for what micro brews I should try as well?

I think I may have linked the craft beer week list in mid may, that isn't a bad place to start if you want to do a crawl.

are you looking to go to places you normally haven't hit up or don't go to? Which side of the highway do you want to stay on?
