Lightnin´Hopkins... My starter won´t start this morning

Lyrics:

My starter won't start this mornin'
Boy and my motor won't even turn
My starter won't start this mornin'
Boy and my motor won't even turn
You know I've been runnin' with a fast, trashy womens
Now they'll call my little car to ruin

Yes my starter won't start this mornin'
Somethin' must be wrong with my little machine
You know my starter won't start this mornin'
Somethin' must be wrong with my little machine
Mechanic say "Your car's all right like
You just been burnin' bad gasoline."

*************

Lightnin' is one of the bestest ever.

Here's some Jason Ricci stuff. At one time, and perhaps still, the enfant terrible of the harmonica world.

Compare the minimalism of Junior Wells to Little Walter (Muddy on guitar):

And a favorite from Luna Lee. She's a big SRV fan -- not sure how she came across this one.

Just came across some more live Little Walter. It looks like Hound Dog Taylor on guitar, but nobody else is introduced.

Time for some John Hammond, don't know if he has been mentioned in this thread yet. This a great song from a great album called Source Point (recorded in 1970 and released on Columbia).

Great harmonica and the deep resonate jug sound is also a wonderful touch.

Try some of Willie Watson's renditions on his Folksinger Vol 1. His rendition of Rock Salt and Nails is the most chilling thing I've heard in years. Others like James Alley Blues and Bring it With You When You Come are terrific. The link is for The Midnight Special...you don't have to have been in prison to appreciate it...but it helps

I read some time back Say No to the Devil...life and time of Reverend Gary Davis
I can't recommend it though I highly recommend his music
The author whose name escapes me badly needed an editor. If you're a guitar player with keen interest in innovative chromatics and other abstruse notions then maybe give it a try.
I've always enjoyed his work for its incredible raw power banging on piano as well as strumming.

The following are excellent books on the early Blues and the origin of the Blues and many of the originators and their bands etc. Worth a read.

There is this song by John Hiatt that got me thinking also about the old days
https://youtu.be/mGh8uBw2EfY
I believe I was at the Cellar Door circa 1976 for the incident he references about John Lee Hooker...my gf pointed out the two young women walking with Hooker as he came in the place...gf pointed out how concerned he was about his hat as one played with it. Hooker came up and sat on the stage of,the first act which was Hiatt though I didn't realize it at the time since we came for Hooker

This is the song that made me put down my electric guitar for the last few years.

And this is one that taught me that rag time is harder than it looks.
