I guess technically this is blues - but to me it's rock
Buddy Guy on guitar - fabulous
whatever you wanna call it - it's truly great
"She won't do this - she won't do that - she won't do nothing - 'till she knows where it's at"
.
Blues. Rock. Whatever it is, it's high fashion. I've searched lo these many years for a double-breasted cutaway jacket with red lapels and a pussycat on the back.
I tried to come up with some words to express how great this Little Walter tune is - but my words weren't good enough
so I decided to just post some of the lyrics
same with the 2nd track - " Wang Dang Doodle" with Little Walter and Koko Taylor the vocalist
I didn't know Koko Taylor - I just happened on to her - glad I did -
"My baby don't stand no cheatin', my babe
Oh, yeah, she don't stand no cheatin', my babe
Oh, yeah she don't stand no cheatin'
She don't stand none of that midnight creepin'
My baby don't stand no foolin', my babe
Oh, yeah, she don't stand no foolin', my babe
Oh, yeah, she don't stand no foolin'
When she's hot there ain't no coolin'"

there are very few who create their own original tracks
the rest pass the baton as they blow past the competition while relaying upon the same lanes
each subsequent song signing a new blue ink time signature in the history books
.
from the 16th Century on folklore told about special powers that went to The Seventh Son
lyrics from the great Willie Dixon - the song entitled "The Seventh Son"
"Everybody talkin bout the Seventh Son
But in the whole wide world there is only one
and I'm the one - I'm the one
The one they call The Seventh Son
I can tell your future it will come to pass
I can do things for you make your heart feel glad
Look in the sky - predict the rain
I can tell when a woman's got another man
Cause I'm the one - I'm the one
The one they call The Seventh Son
I can heal the sick - I can raise the dead
Make the pretty girls talk outta their heads
Cause I'm the one - I'm the one
The one they call The Seventh Son"

yes, yes, yes, and yes
i have no doubt phat mack knows what he's talking about when it comes to recognizing a blues tempo
and at the same time who else is qualified enough to be nominated as a successful 'genre judge'?

that mandolin from Bill Monroe in blues or bluegrass - whatever you wanna call it - is absolutely fabulous - and to the best of my knowledge unique - thanks for those posts
here's another one from Bill where his mandolin is featured - on YT one of the comments - they said Bill was near 80 when this was filmed

Youtube is giving me fits right now, but another mandolin player that is fun to listen to is Yank Rachell, who was active in the blues scene from the 30s through the 90s.
