Spotify is better than YT - but they don't give you visuals - the sound quality is much better - I created an account and they tried to get me to download - didn't want to - found you can just stream - it's free

I'm a huge Lonnie Johnson fan. Probably have 30 of his 78s. He recorded from the mid 1920's up until the 1950's. Early in his career he recorded a number of songs with pioneering jazz guitarist Eddie Lang. Thinking that a mixed race duo might not go over in the 1920's, Lang, who was white (and who's real name was Salvatore Massaro) recorded using the pseudonym "Blind Willie Dunn" Here's a song from 1929. LONNIE JOHNSON and BLIND WILLIE DUNN-"HOT FINGERS."

i had no idea about the origin of that song
the judge decreed it and the clerk he wrote it
down
but i have listened to the dead sound of Jerry
trilled by the pig, is that Ron in the pen?
white knuckle ride, please lean to the side
that gravity takes you

1890 was a different age. No internet; no recordings, many were illiterate, and books were only for the few.

Predicted in the 60s by Marshall McLuhan. At the time, I thought he was crazy.

I've posted this before, but the first minute has John Lee Hooker complaining about Pigpen's cooking.

REDeYe mentioned John Mayall in the jazz thread - I liked him a lot too -

in this album Mayall uses Johnny Almond on flute - I don't think I've ever heard a flute playing blues like that before - really cool

and of course, his earlier album with Eric on guitar is an absolute classic

in the second half of the 60's Mayall's guitarists were Eric Clapton, Peter Green, and Mick Taylor.
he tried to find another when Mick left for the Stones, but what are the odds of finding someone of the same talent?
so he chose another direction and played acoustic with reed instruments and no drums. even the name of the album acknowledges the change. fantastic stuff
