On the topic, I suggest Chef's Table. It's a TV series by David Gelb of Jiro Dreams of Sushi fame. I watched the first episode and it's amazing.

I've now seen 4 out of the 6 and love it. Would rank them 2, 1, 4, 3. The Latin American chef was the only episode I really didn't care for.

tv broke and crushing netflix hard on comp. been trying to find some solid standups. Watched all bill burr and louie ck (prob 2 of top 5 comedians all time IMO). Watched a few kevin harts, were ok but not great. Watched Bo Burnhams special last night, was weird. Kind of reminded me of book of mormon in a way, overall entertaining tho. Any other suggestions? Hate Tom Papa on some tv show he hosted a few years back so iffy about watching his standups. Not a big fan of the indian guy wt the stereotype comedy. Anything else worth it? I saw a mike birbiglia standup was on there, anyone watch it?

The Birbiglia one is very good. Jim Gaffigan's is old, but definitely watch it if you haven't. Zach Galifianakis' Live from the Purple Onion is also outstanding (some interview inserts slow things down a little, but the standup show itself is hilarious). Patton Oswalt has a couple on there which aren't his best, but are still good. I like Chelsea Peretti's but she's not for everyone.

There are also some Richard Pryor, George Carlin, and Eddie Murphy shows (Delirious >>> Raw) that are still as funny as any standup out there.

My Netflix adventure this week was Daredevil. It took me a few episodes to get into it but once I did it was really great! The whole season was pretty much backstory/evolution of a superhero. But the specific backstory episodes of Scott Glenn (Stick), The Kingpin and Foggy were my favorites as well as the epic final battle.

I was always a Marvel guy as a kid but could never get into Daredevil. His being blind (which the show explains his abilities well) was always something I couldn't accept. My 12 year old brain found The Hulk, The Fantastic Four, Thor, and Spiderman etc. perfectly rational but couldn't accept a blind superhero because that just didn't make any sense

But this show is really well done and I am really impressed with the quality and quantity that Netflix has been churning out lately.

Blew through season 3 of Orange is the New Black this weekend. Meh. Just more of the same getting old fast. General prison life and lots of backstories The only (to me) interesting story line was that of Caputto and the guards.

I'll probably watch the next season but I won't be excited about it

I have watched 4 episodes of the new OITNB and it feels so much like, "Now that I have your attention, here's 32092 social commentary messages per episode." I love the characters but it removes me from the show when they slow down and a character turns to the camera and says, "growing up gay is hard. my parents hated me. start crying. we cool? yeah it's hard. cry."

Watched the first episode of Marco Polo but not really feeling it. Anybody see the whole thing and does it get good at some point?

What! To each their own, but this guy is by far the biggest boss they profile imo, and I had never heard of him before. Dude lives on his own island, travels the world whenever he wants, cooks IN THE LITERAL GROUND, and somehow conned his baby mama into being cool w/ a 10 days/mo relationship. The sequence where he cooks the trout (that he caught) in the clay (that he gathered) is as good as the show got for me.

Not really. I got into the first few episodes bc I like historical dramas, but my interest just sort of petered out. I'm not really sure why, I just wasn't feeling it.

Lost Soul was pretty damn good. It's a documentary that follows the production of The Island of Doctor Moreau, which is widely regarded as one of the worst movies of all time.

It's amazing just how much went wrong on and off set, but what really makes this great is all the stories we get from the people involved. The ones about Brando were especially good. Well worth a watch.

Yeah, this was pretty good. Always heard what a douchetard Val Kilmer was, and this is proof. However, the original director was a goofball and there was no way he was going to be able to direct that film.

Just finished plowing through Hot Wet American Summer: First Day of Camp.

Very ridiculous, over the top, goofy and stupid. I loved it! Not all of it worked but what did had me rolling. This goofy style fits my sense of humor perfectly.

How they got the entire original cast back together is amazing. Also how all of these basically no-names from 15 years ago had such good careers after it.

Lots of really bad wigs and 40 year olds playing 17 year olds. If you like really stupid over the top comedy you may like this one.

Agree with all of this

Would like to recommend Creep with Mark Duplass. The movie really delivers on the title and Duplass gives an amazing performance. Terrifying.

GF and I watched two episodes of this yesterday and could not get into it. We thought it was painful tbh.
