Churchkey in DC --one of my favorite beer bars anywhere-- opened a sister bar in Lower East Side, NYC. It's called the Grand Delancey and I will make the bold prediction that it should immediately become one of the top 5 beer bars in Manhattan. I'll be there to try it later this fall, but I hope one of you beats me to it!

Any opinions on these highly rated beers?

coffee cinnamon bbomb is a fantastic beer. Rusty nail is too but its not for everyone with the licorice flavor. I'm a huge fan of cinnamon stouts though fwiw.

You pretty much can’t go wrong with anything barrel-aged from Fremont. Among the best in the country. (Their fresh hop stuff is amazing too, but not sure you’ll see those down there. If you do, BUY IT ALL.)

Both are very very good but I agree coffee cinnamon is the one to get if you only get one. Rusty is still amazing though. Obviously I'm a bit of a homer since I hang out at Fremont often

Reasonably sure the fresh hop doesn't dirtro to ca but agree if you ever see cowiche canyon get it asap.

I've been a pretty big churchkey fan since I visited a few years ago right after zwanze.

Will definitely check out grand delancey the next time I'm in NYC.

I’m headed to the 450 North Corn Maze beer fest October 5th. Anyone else going? I made an excel sheet of breweries sorted by Untappd rating if anyone is in to that sort of thing.

FYI I got the opening date wrong, they haven't opened yet but apparently will this fall.

we're moving that weekend otherwise I would be there. The brewery lineup is unreal.

Have you been down to a can release there since it went from just kind-of-crazy to insane? Definitely a fun time if you can make it.

Never on release day. Usually go down and drink them on tap the day or 2 after. Bummer on the move timing! Going with my wife and 4 other friends. Camping out at the campground they posted about which I’m pretty sure is just going to be a large open field. Should be a blast though.

Anyone have any opinions on Brewdog? They have a place opening in my neighborhood tomorrow. Honestly never had anything from them.

Pretty meh for the most part. Their IPAs are really unspectacular. They've had a couple stouts I've enjoyed, and I particularly liked Cocoa Psycho, but I haven't been able to find it for a couple years.

Pretty damn good IPA, even if not on tap:

when travelling internationally, they're fine as a decent reliable beer in places that may lack that. Otherwise, they're unremarkable

My buddy coming in from STL is dead set on camping out Thursday night for the Friday release. I’m kind of meh about it, but hopefully it’s fun! We probably won’t be able to get there until like 10:30 though so hopefully we’ll get most cans. Any tips or thoughts on what to expect?

I'm not sure what to expect anymore, things have just gotten crazy. Last fall I would show up at a release at 9:30am on Friday and have no problem at all. The anniversary release a few weeks ago there were 250 people in line by 11:00pm thursday night. You should get the full allotment if you are there by 10:30, but who knows how crazy it will be. They pass out bracelets up until a certain point, and if you dont get one that night you'll need to be in your spot in line at around 7 Friday morning to get your bracelet.

it really is a good time, you'll have fun. There is a hell of a beer share thursday night that lasts well into the morning. I usually hang out until 1 or 2 and then just pass out in my car, but a lot of people bring a tent now.

Anyone do zwanze this year? It was my favorite of the last 3-4 years. Magic felt like they ruined some lpf by adding vanilla though.

Know I'm late on this, but just had the Coffee Cinnamon B-bomb on tap at Churchkey in DC and it's fantastic. Cinnamon is a really good flavor in a stout.

Closer to home, recently Toronado has had another Fremont BBA stout on tap, I forget what it is but I can report back when I'm back in SF next week (and, fingers crossed, they still have it!).

I went to Crooked Stave in Denver - very well run.

Agree on the Zwanze beer being really good this year. Somewhat disagree on Magic, I liked the vanilla on the aftertaste.

It was the first time i had Vig, that might be a new favorite.

I'm so-so on Nath.

It's kind of crazy that I've never been to Toronado Seattle. I'm up there for a wedding next weekend, seems like the perfect place to pregame!
