Hoagie,

I have the coffee sitting in my fridge right now, will try it soon.

Whole Foods now has a few of them for $25/22oz.

I’ve had eclipse a few times in the past and always enjoyed it a lot, but I don’t remember it standing out as way better than other premium BA stouts.

Potential noob question here. A market near me has 2017 BCBS for sale. I live in California. Isn't this supposed to be kinda rare? I thought BCBS was usually (1) snapped up when it's released, and (2) mostly found near Chicago.

Someone much more knowledgeable will likely have a better explanation. I think Founders and other bourbon barrel aged brewers have significantly increased production and may have overestimated the market.

KBS hit my market about a week ago and I haven’t got around to looking for it. I think it’s still very likely I’ll find it tomorrow. If not I still have plenty of barrel aged stout and know more will be coming.

Goose Island sold out, bcbs is widely distributed now.

Joe,

What they said. Whole Foods soma and CBS both currently have BCBS regular and barleywine sitting on the shelf.

Got it, thanks guys. I did get one bottle to blind taste test vs the KBS I got last weekend. I think I like BCBS a lot better, but I've never had them back to back before.

Target fans,

Another mystery priced target adventure:

That looks a lot better than k&l:

Grabbed one of each, turned out to be $9.99 and $10.99. I’m gonna grab a few more. I liked big Bad Baptist, but really really liked baptista.

They had rodenback Alexander which a bunch of you recommend, so grabbed one:

Actual price: $13.99. Sounds like that’s still pretty good.

Anyone know if the caracter rouge on the left and right are different? Spider had a not great review, anyone else tried this beer?

That target is lol. I would buy all the baptista they had at 10.99.

Right now I'm drinking one of the best fantomes I've ever had. Straight banger.

Spider,

The target currently has an amazing selection of almanac, epic, and hermitage sours. Unfortunately I have no idea which of them will ring up as $6.99 and which will ring up as $14.99 lol.

Diablo,

Classy thing to do is show them your pictured catalogue of their whole beer selection and demand to speak to the manager for that $4 difference

Cart horse and ME-MI from Old Nation brewery.

The former used to be called boxer and the latter is a brand new collab with foundation brewery in main which explains the name.

The ME-MI is my favorite old nation beer so far. Holy crap it’s good. Lots of pineapple taste with a nice hoppy balance. Best NEIPA I’ve had.

Am I the only one that finds Diablo beer runs to Target fascinating.

Diablo just bring them to the register and if they ring up different than listed on the shelf make a stink and show the pic, they’ll honor the listed price. I remember as a kid back in the late 80s I was at Target and they had mid-marked pricing on some Voltron toys by like at least half, they honored the pricing.

another shipment showed up at my packie. This is probably my favorite hoppy beer at the moment. I am having this after two tree house beers (Sap and Haze, both of which are on point and were awesome), but I'm digging this more. OK maybe a toss up between this and the sap. But the extra malt presence is welcomed, and it's dank af.

Nit,

Lol I’m sure I could get them to honor whatever, but I just don’t have that kind of WIM in me. I usually just buy one of anything that looks like it might be a great deal. If it’s a few bucks more than expected, whatever, I just buy one. And if it’s a real deal I go back and stock up!

Mainly I’m just fascinated by the crazy array of beers that comes through this store.

El D,

Is said Target the one at 4th & mission? I went to a wine tasting festival in that building today and almost stopped in to see the storied beer selection and grab a few bottles, but I was fairly drunk and didn't feel like carrying beer with me to other bars.

Youre pretty lucky to shop there. The beer selection at all the Targets on the Peninsula sucks!

Do all targets sell beer? Target is up there with my least favorite places to go so I haven’t been in years.

Joe,

Yeah, that’s the one. It’s not really anything that amazing and everything there can be found at beer/liquor stores or grocery stores with good selections. I just find it very amusing because it’s a Target.

Had some beers last night.

Prairie's Birthday Bomb: A BBA imperial stout with cocoa nibs, coffee, vanilla beans, and chili peppers. Could've been a good beer if not for the harsh metallic taste and soy sauce scent. Rates as one of my worse purchases beer wise. ($12 for 12oz)

Founder's KBS: Good, but the mouth feel is a bit thin. Also, the flavor isn't quite as rich as I thought it would be.

Jolly Pumpkin/Artisan Ales "Smashed Grabbed and Hop Dusted": Light orange color with very fine and resilient foamy head. Strong scent of bretts and hop bitterness. Tastes of slightly sour brett firmly enveloped in Tyenol extra-strength bitterness. I'm talking fire-hazard dry grass. I might be going crazy but I think they added salt to this beer as well. It was okay.

Having some KBS, better than I remember, will probably get a Four pack and that hold me over bourbon barrel stout till this fall.

Drank some beers last night for my buddy's birthday. Fou was great, Andall Crowlers were crazy good. Tenfidy side-by-side at the end of the night was probably unnecessary at 2 am but well worth it. (regular BA, Java, rum BA and rum BA death by coconut).

Yellow belly is such an interesting beer. Anyone had it?

Had this year's kbs last night and I agree, very thin, not at all worth purchasing.

I had a KBS tonight, I think from last year's batch, and it was fantastic. I bought a 4-pack of this year's on Friday, along with another 4-pack of Barrel-Aged Victory at Sea. But after having one of each this weekend, KBS was the easy winner.

You’re a crazy person. This years KBS is the best in a few years and easily worth 5-6$ for a 12 oz bottle.
