Okay, about this archetype thing:

Of the cylons we know about, what the hell archetypes are they?

I don't buy this archetype thing.

IMO the writers aren't trying to set up the final cylon as some massive jaw-dropper, but rather as something that will really make sense with whatever turns out to be the real connection between cylons and humans.

I'm not sure how he would fit into to the archetype argument, but it should be noted that the final four were all people who played secondary leadership roles in the human military/political system - and no one is more present as a second in command then Gaeta.

Also, at this point the cast is well-developed enough that any of the major characters would have suitable shock value.
*************************

SPOILERS BELOW FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVEN'T WATCHED THE 4TH SEASON!!!

THAT MEANS YOU DB! Hurry up and catch up, will you?

this whole "2nd in command" thing is weak. Both Gaeta and Tori were no where near the 2nd in command to Baltar and Roslin. Tom Zarek was the VP to Laura's Prez, second in command, not Tori...both Gaeta and Tori were assistants...and where does Tight, Galen and Sam fit in with that? Yes, Tigh is the 2nd in command of the Galactica, but that really the only one who fits your theory.

I also think it's going to be hard to fit Apollo as a Cylon, as his father has watched him grow up from a boy. Of course, we have the same problem with Tigh - he fought in the first Cylon Wars....when did he "become" a cylon? Was he replaced sometime in the recent past (after the First War but before the Colonies' destruction) or has he always been a Cylon? And if he was replaced, is the "real" Tigh still somewhere out there?

Let's not foeget your baby question, either! Forget Galen's child being another hybrid, what about the Six who has supposedly been impregnated - by Tigh! The first Cylon/Cylon conception? What does that mean???

I hadn't thought about Helo....I guess it's possible that while he was trapped on Caprica he was also "replaced" - like Tigh apparently has been.

Anyway....good stuff!

I think all of the Cylons were intended by the writers of the show to be "loose" representations of the 12 gods from Mt. Olympus:

Number 1 - Brother Cavil
Number 2 - Leoban - Apollo - (prophecies)
Number 3 - D'Anna Biers (Diana/Artemis)
Number 4 - Simon
Number 5 - Aaron Doral
Number 6 - Aphrodite/Venus
Number 8 - Sharon Valleri - Athena
Galen - Vulcan (smith god)
Sam Anders - Hermes (see tattoo of wing on arm)
Tori -
Saul Tigh - Ares (god of war - has affair with Aphrodite)
Final Cylon - Admiral Adama - Zeus

Obviously it's not a direct one-to-one correlation with all of them since that would be too easy to figure out but I think they're loosely basing the Cylon models after the gods themselves (i.e., and little Hera fits into the scheme too although she's not on of the original 12). This is also how I see them tying in the idea of archetypes since the 12 gods more or less represent basic human archetypes imo.

I think this whole show is about the reconciliation of the gods with man.

And now, since I haven't seen Razor or Season 4 either, I'm sure my grand theory is going to bite the dust soon.

wow, that's pretty good, Hobby...I like this. And don't worry, if your theory bites the dust it won't be because of Razor - it doesn't propel the story along - it's more like a detour.

Dude, you haven't even seen Season 4 yet! You know the final Four, though, right? That was at the end of Season 3....

What hint in Razor am I missing?

Well, I dunno, I think matching them up is a real stretch - Who's Poseidon? And do we include Hades even though not an Olympian?

Cavil could certainly fill the role of Zeus. Certainly if you asked him which he most Greek god closely resembled that would be his answer.

I'd think 6 would be Hera and Tori would be Aphrodite.

Then again, Boomer could be Hera as the only mother.

Helfer looks absolutely horrible on Canada's Next Top Model (hey, my wife was watching it last night).

I used to be in the Gaeta camp for the final cylon. Strong evidence for Admiral Adama has now been presented. I like the breakdown of the 12 models and their pantheon counterparts. As for the Razor scenes with young Adama, wasn't there some press last year about Razor having strong hints of who the final Cylon would be?

We haven't settled the terms yet and I want to do that since it looks like I'm in the right of it...

Boxey and Daggit. (Boxey is on the right).

Pic is from the original series. Boxey had a small role in the mini-series and the first few episodes of the current series.

OMG - Talk about changing the rules and terms when you're LOSING.

You're just saying this cuz you think I'll back down now.

What if I take you up on this offer...and I win? I seriously think that I would fly to Vegas just so I could pick out the fattest, hairest, ugliest she-male that I could find and make you have sex with it because you lost the bet.

I would take so many pictures for a Lounge TR....seriously considering this bet....hmmmm.

you really have me confused with someone who is likely to honor a bet in those circumstances.

Sunshine, I could outmaneuver you on a tricycle.

tell you what choose who you want first....then I'll choose someone.

OH - and if we do do this bet, I want you to be sitting on a tricycle holding up your sign. I'm sure that your niece wouldn't mind lending you hers.

Stop calling me Sunshine...you're just mocking me like you do with Sparky.

Dom and Hobby: Please screw and get it over with. Sincerely, The Lounge.

I honestly don't think they can rationalize their way out of the new cylons. it's been touched on in this thread, and fully dissected in other boards, but the 'rules' they've set in the early seasons are pretty much broken in the way they've been handling Cylons as of late. I don't mind though.

Completely forgot all the holes in their new way of handling the cylons. I'll try to dig up the thread that listed them.
