I always thought Schopenhauer was pretty funny.

I have certainly smirked a bunch when plowing through his material. If nothing else, it is a kick in the pants. So I end up going uphill and not downhill, so it offsets all of Ray's concerns.

a kick in the pants sends you up hill when you are at the bottom. sends you downhill when higher up.

ive never read any schopenhauer stuff. but i just found an old gadabout gadis book about his life and it really was surprising.

I was carded for beer yesterday. I laughed at the cashier and said, "well, yeah, okay." She wasn't as amused as I am.

I will share you a critical secret of life, Ray. You can't go downhill if you are at the bottom of the valley. It's also stable because gravity and life cannot push you down any further.

I'm just saying, no need to worry.

not true. you can climb the valley and go downhill again or not.

It sounds like Ray wants to kick people "in the pants." Also, if an earthquake happens, you don't have to worry about falling down either.

I think most people just chill at the bottom and wait for the earth to rise. I'm starting to see the benefit of that.

i got a few kicks in the pants and it got me going. never hurts to get one.

Speaking of the earth moving, the ground is trying to destroy California.

Had a 6.6 near Bakersfield. It was pretty heavy out in LA, but only felt the rolling edge of this one. There was also a 4.2 up in Ridgecrest.

I'm guessing someone got hurt. Ambulances and helicopters all over downtown now.

Happy 4th everyone. Try to see the end of the day with all your fingers.

Bang, Boom, Boom: happy July 4 to all!

Speaking of kicking in the pants, I'm going to start looking a new job, or maybe go back to contracting. It's not that I don't like the coworkers, but I'm excessively paranoid now and I don't feel comfortable working with anyone anymore.

A review from one of my coworkers really ****ed my world up. I would be okay with it if it wasn't a lie, but it was full of downright false accusations. It's worse because the review was anonymous, so I don't know who got offended by me. I feel like I'm walking on eggshells and I no longer feel comfortable working with anyone on the team.

Now I'm working alone, doing a lot of guesswork. Some of that guesswork is wrong, and I just don't even know if it's safe to talk to anyone anymore.

Hopefully this process will be quick, but regardless, I'll just keep pressing forward until I likely get fired anyways. It's pretty bad right now and there is no way to recover from this.

My temptation is to tell the boss that I plan to look for work elsewhere. I just don't know how to approach all of this softly.

Just keep collecting a check, Dave. But it might be a good idea to talk to the boss.
07-04-2019 , 02:46 PM
Why don't I feel like going to where I've been invited? Ray probably knows the answer.
07-04-2019 , 02:47 PM
just be yourself and dont worry about fitting in with anybody. life is too short for that. do what you like to do best and the world opens for you. that is my way of thinking.
07-04-2019 , 02:48 PM
any body willing to invite me to someplace isnt someone i want to be with.
07-04-2019 , 02:58 PM
Well, I can always retaliate by inviting her to one of my family's events and insist she attend.

I tend to be myself most of the time. You know, awkward and shy. Ah, Summer! And Glory Days; Lounge LC Thread

They sent you an invite rather than an invitation?

I took photos of the July 4th parade in my little small town and sent them to my friends in Sicily so they can understand what USA#1 is all about.
