"Parrot Eating Chocolate" is an amazing piece. Don't deny the deep subversion of social norms that represents. Someone needs to commission that to LACMA before it's too late.

This past Friday, my coworkers and I had a get-together. I went to someone's home and to say the least, my place feels like the slums now. Not that I'm jealous or anything.

My place isn't as nice as their place, but I do have a cool place where you just walk in and immediately think about having fun, which is pretty much how I like it. You walk into my place and you think: "this is a great place to have a cheap beer and a bag of weed." Now, neither of these products are ever in my place, but I'm just saying, it wouldn't feel out of place.

As people are leaving, everyone is asking "Oh, where are you going?" and they all got answers about all the cool spots everyone was going to. I wasn't asked at all. It was just assumed that I was going to go home and do nothing.

The million dollar question from everyone was: "what kind of music are you listening to all day?" I didn't have a straight answer since I'm listening to all sorts of stuff. To sate their curiosity, I built up a playlist of 100 songs that they can listen to.

The other question was: "what is hardcore?" I was sure to add a few, but I'm pretty sure they won't like it.

Here's an example:

now i can finally see why in the 1950's they wanted to outlaw rock and roll. it took more than a half century but if this is what people are listening to then im all for it.

Ray;

That genre of music is Italian. I don't think that music will ever be a known export of that nation's culture, at least not in America, so no worries.

Have seen a number of films that use Musso and Frank's in Hollywood, including Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, as a location. Check it out; it's a wonderful bar with elegant bartenders.

its important to have elegant bartenders.

"hey bartender bring me a nudda beer willya"

beer?

so archaic,

Come visit it me and it will be doubles of a fine scotch at a minimum previewed by a fine bottle of wine. White or Red, your choice,

daveT, you nailed it. The Parrot Eating Chocolate is truly amazing! A masterpiece. If they auctioned that piece I'd start at $100, bid even higher, and frame it.

As long as it went to a good charity.

07-31-2019 , 03:58 AM

That's the whole genius behind it. Polly don't give to ****s that he's eating chocolate and he gets the last laugh because he's really eating a pile of poo.

I'll bid $105.

that 8 year old kid must have had a vivid imagination or the ones that looked at it have one.

its a pic of a stupid parrot that was eating a kids candy bar at his home. so he used that for his picture and his parents entered it in the fair. zeno saw it and figured dave would love it, and he did, and rr popped in and loved it. and of course i had to come and point out the reality of the situation while john sits on the sidelines be fuddled over it.

I like children and the childlike. Better than most adults.
08-01-2019 , 02:03 AM
what about parrots.
08-01-2019 , 03:22 AM
Some of us want to live on a square planet and some of us want parrots to think they are eating chocolate when they are really eating a pile of poo.

Sometimes those Venn diagrams intersect.
