I have to join the chorus of those who are amazed that there is one film that has not been drafted yet. I would have bet a lot it was going in the top 3 and its still not picked!

Leaving Las Vegas, Mike Figgis, 1995



Yes, I'm skipping over a lot of the "zomg undrafteds," and yes, this movie has a hooker with a heart of gold. But I don't care. I love this movie. To note, aside from one brutal scene, we really don't see Sera turning tricks; neither does Ben. We question what brought these two people to this stage of their lives, but we also see the contentness that they have. The chips didn't fall well for them, and maybe they did it to themselves, but they both have a contentness that is so rare. The film is difficult to watch, but it's captivating. It's two societal outcasts that unconditionally accept each other for who they are. The acting is superb. Nick Cage won an Oscar for his performance (yes, the same LOL Nick Cage from all the other crap he's done) and Elizabeth Shue was robbed imo. Also, I just love the music in the film. F the haters, yo.

Unforgiven is amazing. Best western since The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.

I said "overrated." I didn't say "bad." It's a very good movie. But it lacks depth and intrigue. It's perfectly executed. Scorsese knocked it out of the park. I just think the story isn't as amazing as everybody makes it out to be. It's cool seeing gangsters do their thing and all in a perfectly executed film, which makes it a very good movie. But I don't agree with the jizzfest itt, although I'm not in the least bit surprised by it.

If Dom steals my #1 I may have to kill him.
