Yep, 1991 produced a lot of awesomeness.

I've got 13 "must-haves"
13 2nd-tier "must-haves"
and 97 other films I'd hate to leave off my list.

Yep, had all the movies that have gone so far obv, but only 2 of them I would have used as my first pick. I have 3 movies left that I would really like to get at least one of for my first round, but it looks like a pretty hard ask at this point with 10 more picks before it gets to me.

BTW, I'll definitely be picking my personal favourites, not necessarily "the highest quality" movies of the decade. And to some extent, I'm actually glad a couple of them have gone because it makes my decision a bit easier.

Yeah, it's the #1 movie of all time on the IMDB!

I like it. Good movie. Not in my top 100 (er, of all time) but almost def in top 250 which puts it in top 1% of stuff I've seen... so it ain't bad.

Btw 3 movies I consider roughly tied as my favorite movie ever are all avail hmm lol

1. undrafted
2. undrafted
3. undrafted
4. Pulp Fiction

...is my big board. I'm literally shocked 2 of these others are both undrafted.

it kinda really annoys me how well liked it is by people, considering there are some truly awesome prison movie out there, like the French Le Trou. Maybe that subconsciously causes me to like it less than I should, plus it is a bit sappy and Tim Robbins kinda rubs me the wrong way. ):

my #1 movie is still out there, but there is no way in hell it makes it 8 picks to me. my #2 movie is still out there, but I think I will wait to draft it in the second round and draft my #3 in the first instead.

i definitely need to catch up on the early 90s more. I can give a rough (low end) estimate by counting movies I've voted for on imdb from each year of the 90s...

1990 - 33
1991 - 19
1992 - 37
1993 - 45
1994 - 40
1995 - 62
1996 - 57
1997 - 87
1998 - 84
1999 - 83

Compared to say 2002 where I saw 145 movies... haha.

There are many great prison movies, Le Trou, A Man Escaped, Escape From Alcatraz, Papillon, etc. But now that I think about it I'm not sure I can come up with a better 90s prison movie than Shawshank. It's a crowd pleaser for sure, but I still figured it for a later round pick.

Weird, I haven't seen any of these. Guess I never had a "prison break" binge.

omg what happened to the Spreadsheet.. I had the SS link from the 2000s draft but I guess you guys used the same page and just edited it for this one? Is there a master list of the previous draft? Was going through some of the good ones I had forgotten about.

Lots of value left, apart from Fargo, the other three weren't in my top ten. There's one movie I can't believe hasn't gone top five.

The lack of [undrafted] in the top 5 surprised me at first but not so much considering there's been a lot of "it's popular now it sucks" backlash.

I'll be drafting my own personal favorites throughout the draft. In other words, I won't be value drafting.

Also, all the "I can't believe undrafted is still available" after 5 picks is kinda funny. People do have different tastes. It's kinda like having the NCAA tourney going chalk v. having sick upsets. I like to see the upsets.

Agree completely, thats the whole idea as I see it. Tastes and preferences will differ. I fully expect that at least half of the first round to be movies I would never consider at any point. So far the Matrix is the only one in that category for me so far but I can think of at least a couple others I fully expect to go rather quickly that I not only have no interest in but distaste for.

Nah there's one movie that if it isn't in your top 5 of the 90s, something is wrong with you.

Damnit, any of the picks so far could have been my first pick except for Silence of the Lambs. So different from the last draft, where my choices stay available.

Time to choose....

Round 1
Pick #5

The Matrix by Andy and Larry Wackowski (1999)

The Matrix is one of the movies I've seen the most times (about 10 times), it is a movie that entertains. The action sequences are very well done, the plot is very interesting and it has a really good mentor character in Morpheus. The movie is the definition of "cool". Cool wardrobe, cool music, cool action sequences, cool one-liners. I love the Matrix.
