I'm glad a film vs. movie debate finally occurred because I was wondering what the difference was.

i pretty much expected all four of those movies to go quick... for the sake of not all being pretentious douechbags i say we all just voice our opinions while respecting the views of others, lol, i.e. i agree that shawshank is a great story and an inspiring movies, but i don't classify it as a great "film" either... but i understand why it was taken so high, cause it's great entertainment, acting and has a high degree of rewatchability...

I respect everyone's opinion but debating them is part of the fun of a draft. Plus, I already admitted to being a pretentious douchebag.

the difference between film and movie is like the difference between obscene and erotic. I'm not sure where the line is, but I know it when I see it.

Right. And people using the terms otherwise have a special place reserved in the part of Hell I am in charge of. It's not a nice place. You are forced to watch movies there.

My pick is The Matrix. Write up to follow. A quick summary of what my write up will say: "I love the movie. It will probably not survive for 20 more picks, so I am taking it now".

1. Pulp Fiction
2. Fargo
3. The Silence of the Lambs
4. The Shawshank Redemption

bit too early for The Matrix, but it is really cool; shame that those sequels could not live up to the original.

I really like Reloaded too. The third one is not particularly good though.

To be honest, I didn't have much time to think of my pick, since I have been swamped with work. But I think The Matrix is a solid first round pick.

it's one of the most influential films of the past 20 years, i think it's great choice, the freeze frame action sequences basically revolutionized film and as astand alone movie i think the matrix is good on a lot of levels...

The Matrix would be reasonable higher than #5.

The last 3 are pretty big surprises for first round picks imo. All quality movies, but would have a hard time putting any into a 90s top 25.

The Shawshank Redemption is no surprise at all. It is immensely popular, i expected it to go in the first 5-6 picks.

can we expand the draft to 50 picks each? I could do that just from 1990 and 1991 alone! Man, what a great two years
