I'm away all day tomorrow and going to bed soon. So I'm going to go ahead and post my pick now. Basically 0% chance I'm going to be sniping anyone.

Round #12 Pick #180

Tin Cup (Ron Shelton, 1996)

A washed up golf pro working at a driving range tries to qualify for the US Open in order to win the heart of his succesful rival's girlfriend.

One of my all-time favourite easy viewing movies. I could watch it a million times. So many phenomenal scenes, the going for it scene, the lay up at the Pro-Am, the 7-iron bet, the scene where he uses the piranha metaphor when talking with Molly, when he has the bet at the back of the green and then in the clubhouse. Costner is great, there's so many quotables, and while it's not re-inventing the wheel, I love it. Just a really, fun movie with a great ending.

Movies So Far
- Pulp Fiction
- Good Will Hunting
- Hoop Dreams
- Hard Eight
- Casino
- Bottle Rocket
- A Simple Plan
- From Dusk Till Dawn
- Notting Hill
- The Full Monty
- Shallow Grave
- Tin Cup

I'm also not going to be around much this weekend - So I am going to make my pick in a few. People are going out of turn all over the place this round, Enrique hasn't been around, if I snipe Mr. Baseball or Nicholas then ooopps I will repick later on.

I'll have my pick up in a few.

Round 12, Pick #14 (179th Overall Pick)

Spoiler:

Home Alone (1990, Chris Columbus)

If you weren't a child of the 90s, you won't understand this pick.

Home Alone is the perfect movie to round out my draft. Like all great kids movies it has - wish fulfillment, laughs, scares, an important message, and is a ton of fun. So many great one liners in this movie. Stern and Pesci are top notch. Man, everything about this movie is amazing. It even has a John Candy cameo.

A movie as good as Home Alone deserves a better write up, but I'm in a rush. I'll come back later and do it justice.

---------------------

My Picks

2. Fargo (1996, Joel Coen & Ethan Coen)
29. Boogie Nights (1997, Paul Thomas Anderson)
32. Jurassic Park (1993, Steven Spielberg)
59. Dazed and Confused (1993, Richard Linklater)
62. The Truman Show (1998, Peter Weir)
89. The Insider (1999, Michael Mann)
92. Barton Fink (1991, Joel Coen & Ethan Coen)
119. Jackie Brown (1997, Quentin Tarantino)
122. Dark City (1998, Alex Proyas)
149. The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999, Anthony Minghella)
152. Out of Sight (1998, Steven Soderbergh)
179. Home Alone (1990, Chris Columbus)

But the basic story of Tin Cup was a novel I was working on a long time ago when I thought I could be a writer (I can't!). I always hoped to really work on it and then Tin Cup came out and stole my idea

Not sniped in the least I totally understand the pick but would have never made it myself as I was already an old man when it came out.

Tin Cup is a moderately enjoyable but instantly forgettable cookie cutter romance. It is throughly average in every possible way. It's not bad by any means but belongs nowhere near a list of the best of the decade.

I disagree with you on this one...it's perfectly executed, well-written and memorable. The others i've listed, along with: Wild things, Crimson Tide, Dumb and Dumber, Mystery Men, Falling Down...they qualify for your description.

And The Doom Generation is, by far, the worst film on this draft list.

Yes doom generation is the worst by a wide margin and is the only film which has a good chance of making the cut in a similar worst of the decade draft.

Tin Cup was moderately enjoyable at best. I just saw it for the first time about 2 months ago.

Can't believe a few films that are still left to take.

this and that's why i hate it so much, plus renne russo is super annoying in it, i guess it's not the worst movie ever but it's just a bad attempt at recreating bull durham...
