So I was in Reno over the weekend and I had a seizure @ 1am in my hotel room. Thank goodness my dad was there because I was convulsing and hyperventilating so loud that it woke him up and if it weren't for him I probably would have gone about my business (turns out I had another one a few weeks ago and didn't know what it was). Apparently I was unconscious for a good 10-15 minutes and then unresponsive for another 10-15 while I sat on the bed playing with a button on the bed spread. He called the paramedics and they rushed me off to the hospital where I took a CAT scan and eventually an MRI and was diagnosed with a brain tumor and a pretty big one at that(about 55MM or the size of mayo's dick.) I spent 6 hours in the Reno hospital before I was airlifted to a hospital in Redwood City, Ca, nearer to my families house. Anyways, it's supposedly benign, but I have my appointment with the neurosurgeon on Wednesday so I should know more.
What I do know is that I have to drop out of school with 3 weeks to go, can't drive, can't drink, can't exercise AND the recovery time after surgery is a minimum of 3 months.
I'm only 26 so I would appreciate if people would send positive vibes my way. Thanks.
My nephew was 19, near the end of his first year in college when he was diagnosed with Leukemia. He missed his finals and had to take a year off to do chemotherapy. That was two years ago and he is back at college now.
Since you are in the Bay Area, you might end up at Stanford, who have some of the best doctors in the world. I hope you get the care you need.
