Ok a tet holiday story.

So I had never met my girls father. He's like this serious, distinguished traditional viet dude. I wanted to meet him but she wanted to wait.Basically if she introduces me too Dad and then we break up it looks really bad on her and she kinda like loses face or whatever, which is big here. Especially with a family like hers.Also I'm a foreigner and she has never dated a foreigner so there was that too.

Anyways, it's tet holiday and me and my girl go to the new casino that was opened in a small beach town called Ho tram. The rooms are like 200 a night but if you give X amount of action you get for free.I detest pit games obv so I figured out bet 36 black, 36 red and 2 green for about 20 minutes and I would lose about 50 bucks but have enough points for the comp. Cool.

So after a couple days at the casino we go to the beach town called Mui Ne a few hours away to hang out with her 2 sisters, who I know well and her 2 step brothers who I've never met. As well as the 2 sisters BF's.

We meet all of them half way there and jump in the van with the group. we stop for a bite to eat and one of the sisters says Dad is coming in the morning but don't tell Uyen(my girls name). I'm like wait, you gotta tell her as me meeting him was seemingly such a big deal for her.

So we get up to the beach house that they had already arranged for everybody to stay at.Fresh seafood and plenty of cold beer purchased. Perfect, game on. so we're hanging out drinking and eating and they tell me we are going to play this game later called "si yat"(not sure the spelling). Apparently every Tet holiday all the locals gamble at this game. it's the one time of the year when it's acceptable to gamble with family and have fun , or so I thought.The game is basically this local version of blackjack.One person is the bank and dealer. The players keep hitting until they stop not exposing there hand even if the y bust. Then the dealer goes from there and can choose if he thinks he has you beat or not. If you bust you lose but only if he opens your cards. If he doesn't open and continues and he busts you win.

They ask me if I want to be the bank so I'm like sure whatever, I'll deal. This will be fun with the family. i'm thinking they will prolly bet maybe 20kvnd or so a hand , maybe 50kvnd. So a buck or 2 a hand. so we go sit around and begin. I deal a few and I see they are betting 100k to 200vnd a hand, or 5 or 10 bucks.I win and lose a few now the crazy uncle wants to deal. so now I see the sister and her Bf are betting 500k a hand or 25 bucks. I lose a couple million between me and my girl after an hour or so and quit with a smile. Meanwhile I'm sick about it. 100 bucks lol.

So a couple hours later the sister and her bf are betting 3 million a hand or $150 a rattle! They're stuck about 40 million or $2000!!. i was just at the casino and was scared to bet $10 friggen blackjack lol.. This was suppose to be a fun, friendly game so I thought but by this time for sure nobody is smiling. The sister is out of money and wants to play on credit and the uncle is not agreeing. They want me to take them to the bank machine. long story short they get more money and end up playing all night. I got into an argument with Uyen about the whole situation as i thought it was ridiculous. Anyways finally after arguing for a while i go to bed about 6am. They continue to play.I think when the smoke clears the sister wins some back and the uncle ends up winning about $2500 total from everybody. $2500 friggen hundred, sitting around indian style on a floor in Vietfreakin nam!

About 730 am sister bangs on the door. "DAD is coming he will be here in 30 minutes" FML, up all night , drinking arguing etc and I'm already scared as hell to meet this dude and this is how it's gonna go down. Ok well whatever, i splash some water on my face and try to prepare...

This was 6 months ago so alot has happened including my dad and sister coming to visit me. so part 2 to come later as I type like an ape so it's tiring and it's 5am here.

Ok Didn't see this and a couple of the other requests for an update.

Guess it's been like over 3 years wow since I updated.

Where to start.

I ended up getting engaged to the last girl I was dating in the thread. We had a big engagement party in VN. My father and sister came out. It was cool. An engagement party in VN is celebrated kind of like a wedding.

Anyways I ended up moving back to Boston for good in March of 2013, shortly after my now wife got approved for her visa.

With online poker being all but dead in USA and really not knowing what exactly to do I had to figure something out. I was home safe back in USA with my girl and my family. But I was nervous about the near future with all of my money almost gone and no income.

I started looking to get back potentially into the car business. At a young age I learned how to buy and sell mostly toyotas and hondas. I learned the numbers and capitalized on people making small and sometimes large mistakes on there selling prices.I used to do this buying out of the local newpapers, want advertisers etc.

So now this time around I discovered craigslist. It was like what I did before buy x10,000. The amount of cars for sale was astounding to me. The first car we flipped I found a toyota corolla for $3900 went up and bought it. Took it home cleaned it up , took some better pics and posted it back up the same place I had just bought it (CL) and sold it for $5600 48 hours later. I knew we had something.

So me and my now business partner continued to buy, sell, flip. We were doing it out of our driveways, open titles etc, pretending we we were not dealers, selling them for our sick relatives etc lol. But we were selling good cars, clean stuff, safe stuff. People were happy.

By this time we had about 8 or 9 cars and it was time for us to get a dealers licence and a car lot. We found one in July of 2015 and opened. I was thinking maybe it would be great if we could sell 12-15 a month. We sold 22 our first month and I was thinking how can we duplicate this. We broke 30 the 2nd month and never sold less than that in that location eventually hitting 40 month.

Our inventory was now over 50 cars between cars we owned outright and cars we used the banks money to flip. We were hitting close to 40 a month consistently and completely outgrew the location. We had so much action and cars everywhere.

Long story short we now moved to our location we are at now and are selling 50 a month consistently with an inventory of about 70. In April we sold 67 which is by far the most we have ever sold in a month. It's called Mass Auto World in Abington mass. You can look us up on our FB page and see more about what we do. So that's what Im up to 7 days a week. Once a week or so I sit back and have a a few too many whiskeys and and reminisce about my time in asia. I can still smell the hot air of saigon and hear the motobikes passing by. What a time it was.

On a more personal note we are having a baby. She is 19 weeks pregnant with both of ours first child.
