How's business going?

I would love to hear some more details about doing business in Vietnam, such as: How easy is it (legally) to get entrepreneurial? How is it different from doing business in The West? Is there a lot of opportunity? Etc.

Business ok I guess overall. Revenue wise the company hasen't made **** and I personally haven't made **** yet. So with my spending habits and coming up on 4 months with zero income I'm gonna have to start back playing in the meantime to stop the bleeding.

But we have a couple new commercial accounts that should be producing something soon as well as just landed a deal with a school to place all of their inbound teachers. That was the first school we targeted and plan on hitting them all.

Business here it depends. For ours we have a full foreign licence which is not easy to get.

For just like opening a bar or restaraunt you can do it without much hassle, just need to go thru all the steps and pay off all the right people.

I've been out with this girl several times but it never seems to go anywhere. Biggest issue(other than competing with the male race) is her English is very limited so it's hard for her I'm sure.Also I've heard she has never dated a foreigner and typically doesn't like or is apprehensive of white guys.Like a cultural thing. Me I don't care, with this one we can communicate like 6 year olds for now and I'm completely fine with it. She actually messaged me last night out of the blue so we'll see.

Regarding my flip flopping on my stance on posting faces.

If it's some random girl I barely know and I feel is worth posting about because of a funny story or whatever I won't post them.

If it's someone I know and that I'm posting about in a positive fashion(other than my ex) I'm ok with it.

Again like If I had any idea the reach of 2plus2 when I started this thread I'd likely have never started it. I literally thought bbv was our little playground to have fun with and that was about as far as it went.

A couple things i've noticed reading this tonight for the first time. You really seem to have come a long way from from the opening post. From the quality of women you choose to living conditions (not saying anything bad about your first place) to even how you dress.

Seems like you are only going to be in the location a few days and that doesn't qualify for change of residence for online. Even if it did, it wouldn't be enough time for the paperwork/approval process.

I'm bored at the office and was thinking about the different types of girls here in the city, so I'll list some of them.

#1. Traditional viet girl type A) This girl is conservative in culture as well as the way she acts, dresses, behaves etc. She is from a good family who is typically on the poorer side. She will live with her family unless they are from the countryside and she has moved to the city to try to make an honest living.In that case she will live with relatives if any live in the city and if not share a room with some other girls.

She dresses very plain in basic clothes and wears no makeup 99% of the time.She will never have a tattoo, never smoke and basically never drink. If she does drink it will be very rarely and usually small amounts. She will never go to bars and clubs. Most of her time will be working with free time spent having coffee with her friends and going to movies.Typical physical appearance will be of average height and weight. Think Hoa(who is looking great lately btw) from my office pic.

This girl will never cheat on you and very much know how to take care of you.

#2)traditional viet girl type B) This girl is also traditional in culture and conservative, but traditional in a different way. This girl will dress up and wear make up almost every time she goes out.She will wear viet styles dresses and high heels. She will almost always be pretty and tall.

She will almost never drink as well but will have np hanging out with you while you get smashed and pour your drinks.She will hang out with similar girls and may go to clubs with groups, but almost always local clubs. She will never smoke either and likely have no tattoos.

She will also have a good family and never cheat on you as well. She represents her culture well, kinda like a doll. Think Thai's wife from my office pic.

Type B girl will get along very good with type A girl as they both adhere to acceptable traditional values.

#3) Style is a cross between 1 and 2 but less conservative. She will drink occasionally but never smoke. she also make take X from time to time.

She will most likely never cheat on you but because her occasional looser behavior there's no guarantees.

#4) less conservative and traditional but still fairly normal, not like working girl.

This girl will still have traditional values and respect her culture to a degree, but is much more open. She will be much more westernized.She will dress more like a white girl, speak better english and have np going out to bars and clubs. She will be very open to dating foreigners and likely frequent the more western style bars and clubs.

She may have casual sex with you but also may cheat on you. There's actually 2 types of this girl. The ones who don't need money and the ones that do. The ones that do will likely be looking for a foreigner or a well off local(who because there behavior they will likely have no chance with). So they will be looking for a guy with money out of neccessity or for a better life.

#5) same as above but will sleep with you for money. Kinda like a part timer but you may never know it.

#6) full time working girl.

She will likely be from a broken family and had a tough childhood. She is doing it out of necessiity but regardless has lost respect from her traditions and culture. She may also be taken care of whatever she has for family. She may still have a good heart and be looking to land the big ticket and marry a foreigner.

#7) same as 6 but so far deep into the game she will never get out and she knows it.There's nothing she likely won't do for money, sell , cheat , rob etc.

Having lived in Saigon for 18 months I can vouch that this description is 100% accurate. Scarily accurate!

An hour later I was in a taxi home, by myself. In life you make a lot of decisions, that I guess actually do change the score. I don't want to say I've made a lot of bad decisions(or good) but objectively I've made a lot of questionable ones.


Not sure where to start. What really matters? Survival(making money),family/friends, getting with the opposite sex.


The real estate business is not where I would like it to be. I'm now over 6 mnths invested in my time and it's not quite penciling out. At least not from our core business model. which is residential and commercial leasing. A lot of competition yea but the biggest problem is people just don't want to pay here. So even when you put a deal together it's a project to even get paid.

So why stick with it? Well A) because historically any time I've gotten to a spot like this I've given up. So I owe it to myself(with this company or a new project) to see it thru. This is the time I think when most people would and rightfully so, jump ship.Since it's only really costing me time I'm gonna see it thru for another 6mths-1 year.

Second reason is because of the big deals. We lost one deal where we had a buyer at 25 million and a seller at 28 million. The deal would have been worth like 500k to our company and at least 50k to me. It not so surprisingly fell thru. I'm a poker player by trade so I don't get too excited one way or the other on a deal.

Here's a picture of us after a meeting trying to broker a deal with the largest energy company in Vn and the USa for an LNG gas project.

I have no idea exactly what was said in the meeting but just nodded my head every so often as Jeff and Thai spoke about business structure, oil pipelines, energy etc. This deal looks dead aTm but was worth 100's of millions of dollars and a nice payday for us.

I do believe it's not a matter of if but when will we close a big deal. So that's I guess the biggest reason I'm gonna stick with it for a while longer.


So basically I went without income(playing poker)for like 4 mnths, which was just stupid, especially given then way I like to spend.

I did get a pool game for 20 million however($2000). Guy from singapore. He beat me a set for $300 but lost the set for 2 dimes.

On a personal side I've met someone pretty special. I guess you could say for the 2nd time since I've been here and maybe only the 4th of 5th tine in my life, I have an actual gf. Like in a relationship to the point where I was able to get in the taxi and go home tonite.

I hope I can continue to be good to her as she is a spectacular all around girl. Probably(if I had to generalize her) like a #2 type b from my list earlier itt.Best thing about her is as much as I adore her, she does me.

Lastly, the only live game in town where I started back playing again and where I've been able to make money when I need it is dead. The game was going strong every day with a rake of 3% no cap, which is already super high right. But the game was easily still good enough to print money. Well as they typically do here, they got greedy and made an anouncment that the game was changing to 5% no cap. The game hasn't played a hand since, like almost 3 weeks. Yesterday I re-opened my online account and will get back to the grind.

Sick sick home games amigo. Let me know when you want to print money. My last session was softer than the softest NW session I've been to. Like there were 2 Fred's at the table.

Ezy, any time there's a guy named fred at a poker table it can't be a bad thing. The only thing better is a game with no white people.
