Trapped in a Basement for 10 years... Trapped in a Basement for 10 years...

I, too, would be going for the full ten million dollars and my choices are the same as SouthernPott.

Using the full thirty points, I'd choose the kitchen, the TV, a garden, the library, a workout facility, the Mayo Dr., and hygiene products.

I feel this combination would keep me sane and in good enough shape to enjoy the ten million when I get out.

I wonder if Kickstarter would allow us to collect money to do a version of this IRL.

5 million for 5 extra points is crazy but Im not a big spender anyway and 5 million would be enough for me even with inflation.

After calculations, Nothing is left over enough for things I really want after must haves so Ill choose the 30 points with girl, fast food [ plenty of healty options], TV and pool table.

So you'd be willing to be trapped in a basement with nothing for no pay?

It looks like my choices are going to look a lot like Pott's.
It made sense to me, but I was 90% asleep when I wrote it. But yeah, if it's medically necessary/important in the doctor's opinion, then it would be part of your medical care, and the drug package would not be necessary.

I guess the greenhouse & garden would be artificially lit as they seem to be in a basement. Hard for me to provide rulings on these things though as I didn't design the game. As such, just trying to let logic dictate.

35 points:

kitchen - 6
skylight - 2
girl - 18
video games - 4
drugs - 5

question: if i choose the garden with greenhouse... can i grow weed and smoke it? If that's the case, then i don't need the drugs and i'll spend the extra 3 points on a pool table and radio.

Does the doctor come to the basement or do you travel to the doctor's office? Is there any interaction/communication with the people who restock anything? Does living underground for 10 years, without any sunlight if you opt for no skylight, cause any long term medical problems?

I was assuming an above ground greenhouse that would have sunlight.

You can't grow your own.

Doctor comes to you. You never leave your basement. The people who stock stuff are just there to do their job. They will nod at you politely, but not engage in conversation. I'm not sure about lack of exposure to sun, you'd have to ask your doctor. Probably would be ok if you use the right supplements/lotions/whatever.

Don't think it makes sense that an outdoor room that you can do stuff in would cost the same as a skylight, so logically I have to assume the greenhouse & garden are artificially lit.

Lack of natural sun can cause both medical and mental issues primarily due to vitamin d deficiency, but the library, doctor, and the kitchen will help overcome that so I don't think the problems (if any) will be long term.

By the way nobody should have to enter to stock stuff. Should be a two sided pantry or something that they can lock and fill with supplies then unlock. Having random people wandering in stocking shelves seems weird.

No, but if we ever do a trapped on a bridge thread I'm totally going to try to enlist his services.

Ok...you can have auto-stocking if you prefer.

I wasn't asking for me because I chose 1.67 18 year olds(is that viable? I assume an 18 and 12 year old are not okay)

Can you make it so the basement has a loop of the Twilight Zone episode "The Silence" playing on a loop?

I found this a little too easy of a mental exercise, but I think that may be due to my having lived longer than others on here. I think a person of my age would find it easier to actually do this than someone much younger.

It just dawned on me this is a way easier version of the Fox Reality show, Solitary. In that show people competed against other players and were subject to various physical and mental tortures with their only "companion" a computerized voice named Val.

No, you can't have portions of things on the list. All or nothing. I don't want to know which 2/3 you wanted...

If you get the music system with every song.

I'm sticking with my choices then. I'll miss going outside and getting some fresh air but I don't really like people much anyway so I'll settle for a once a year prostate exam and physical. I'm going to name my exercise ball in my weight room Wilson.

While you can never have enough real sex, you won't die or go crazy without it and in 10 years you can afford some wild nights to make up for it.

I'd rather do this if I were 20-30 because at my age many of my relatives might not be alive when I get out but I'll take my chances to secure my future.

If done for real, I would make it something of a prisoner's dilemma. Three people would be locked in three basements. A twenty-something, a forty-something, and a sixty-something.

There would be three ten-million dollar prizes for each player and the full amount is payable for staying ten years. Every year a person stays, he earns one million dollars of the his or her prize and would get that portion earned if they left early. However, if a player leaves before the ten years is up and is not the last person left, the remaining player or players get a shot at whatever money that player earned.

Even though I wouldn't use any points on a girl, I have thought about it and I realize anyone who does will be seeing a number of girls through the years and not just one as a specific age is mentioned so when the girl turns nineteen, she will be replaced.

Everyone who thinks they can do 10 years in solitary (by themselves) is delusional. You have to pick the 18 yo or you will go insane.
Also a greenhouse uses natural light. It has green glass hence the name. I think microwave food plus greenhouse food is a viable option that needs to be considered for the savings.
