Ya, I think that would work.

I think the strategic side of scrabble is underappriciated. Rack balance and defensive play are very important. I suggest using the free program wordbiz to play, i belive you can have observers then. Also you could make it work for 2+ players, but scrabble is serious business and should only be played with 2 players.

QFT!!

EDIT: Rack balance is like massaging a woman's breast. You can't just be forceful and go straight for the nipple, you need finesse, charm, charisma...

I can't read a board games for money thread without offering my standard $20-100/game challenge for battleship. Be glad to play scrabble for fun once I'm back from TS, though.

all you need to cheat at scrabble online is a dictionary. word biz is nice cause it has a clock, which limits some of it, but yeah, if you're concerned about losing large amount of money to online scrabble hustlers you're probably justified in not playing.

I beg to differ! What're you going to do with a dictionary?

Coach me sphere.
Just google 'scrabble strategy' and memorize all the 2 and 3 letter words, that will easily take you to the next level. There are a bunch of weird ones that are good to know: aa, ae, ai, qi, ki, za, ba, bo, bi, li, om, em, ef, er, aw, xu, xi, etc.
You don't need to memorize the definitions though it's easier to if you see a list with the words and the definitions. Aa is a form of cindery lava, an ai is a type of sloth, a xu is a form of vietnamese currency, etc.

People say dictionaries usually but you're right, a dictionary will help little.
Google 'scrabble anagram solver' or 'anagram solver' and you'll get a java resource that lets you input your tiles and will output a list of all possible words.
I don't recommend that anybody cheats, but if you're going to play you should be aware of the possibilities for cheating before you put any significant money down.
The two ways that sorta prevent this are playing fast games (5 min and under) or playing the no challenge format, where the program verifies every word, illegal words are prohibited and you have endless opportunities to play a legal word.

There's only so much you can get out of an anagram solver. Sure, you'll know if you can bingo or not, but it won't help you with strategy. There's a lot more to scrabble than playing the 80 pt words. I'm pretty sure I could still beat JayA if he used an anagrammer, and I don't think the score would change too significantly either.

'za' is such garbage but damn is it helpful - turns the z from a liability into less of one

anagram solver + two letter word list would give a player a hudge advantage.

Z is way not a liability!! Power tiles man, power tiles. I would rather get the Q, X, J, and Z then not. It's so easy to score 40+ with those letters... words like ZA, QI, AX, EX, OX, XU, and JO are so clutch.

Also, memorize the 2-letter words, there aren't too many of them... there are the obvious ones like UM and then there are the weird ones like AA, whatever, just learn 'em.

True, an anagrammer would be much more powerful in the hands of a good player that could use it to rack balance and play more obscure 4 and 5 letter words, but you get my point.

Maybe the online site hasn't been updated.
Za is apparently 'slang' for pizza.
I didn't believe it at first until I actually heard this douchebag say it to his douchebag friend at some food place.
Needless to say I had to kill the men where they stood.
